We are on our second Newmar. NKK members since 2007, have attended 5 International rally's. I am 71, the DW is 73. Nothing wrong with some new activities.
Hint...the comedian at dinner this year isn't the answer.

I started out in a big Lance pickup camper at about 60. I loved the mobility - I don't stay in one place very long - but climbing over the cab to the bed got old. So did not having room for a chair. My wife died, I considered selling it and then I met my DW. We started camping again and agreed on a Newmar BSS 2702. Same mobility with a lot more room.
Whether it's NKK, FMCA, or the Elks I don't see younger people joining social/fraternal clubs like our parents did.
One look at a group of smiling folks in sweater vests will get me to cross them off my list quickly. I guess I'm just not a "joiner".

Poll: Newmar Owner Ages - are we atypical?

I'm 36 & DW is 35. Have had our DS almost 1 year now. This is our 2nd coach, started out with a used Tiffin DP Class A and then like others moved up pretty fast. Loving the life so far & our kids always get excited when heading out on trips!

We are NKK members, only been to 1 event (Tampa Super Show last year) so far as its tough with kids to get to rally's.

Hmm maybe we could do some quick-hit weekend get togethers somehow, someday...

I like the idea of joining NKK but with I’m not sure how feasible attending events with two young kids would be, even though they are home schooled. Too many activities at home! But it would be cool to meet other similarly aged families on the road sometime.

I'm sure there is a thread somewhere that explains HOOTs and such, but as a Newmar owner for 2 years I don't have a clue as to any of it.

Here’s the Hoots thread, over 2000 posts long, short blurbs explaining their history are every couple hundred posts :-)

I am 77, bought a Bay Star in 2012 & NKK member since then; wife won't travel anymore. I didn't know there were so many friendly seniors until I attended RV Rallys. We were peers who shared the same reverence for God, Family, Country, Integrary, and enjoying the fruits of our years of labor in the Rat Race.

My wife, twin sons and I tent camped and slept in a 70 Fiat S/W in the early 70s. We upgraded to a 77 Chevy G30 van in 76 that I customized and we used for 30 years to RV, tent camp, and toured the US - 1980 6 weeks & 9,600 miles. 2004 bought '05 Class B Sprinter for RVing and touring with hotel nights; after 4.5 months in 2009 in Alaska I knew I was ready for the comfort of a Class A. Added $42k in improvements to Bay Star and mostly camp in 7+k altitude spots in N/W Wyoming te escape So Calif heat and congestion.

I just voted in the poll as not being a NKK member but we are looking at rejoining. We let our membership lapse when we purchased our HR Vacationer in 2013 but we just traded that coach in and purchased a 2017 Ventana LE 3436.
