POLL: Penguin II 15K Heat Pump-A/C Failure 2015-2019
Just wondering how many 2015-2019 coaches have had issues/failures with the Dometic 15 K A/C, Heat Pumps in the past 5 years?
Simple answers such as year of coach and whether it was Replaced or Required Service are sufficient.
I will collate the numbers and report with sufficient participation.

Any reason you are limiting the years to 2015? Newmar has been using the same heat pump since.at least 2013.

My 2019 DS had a bad heat pump upon delivery. Awaiting replacement.

2016 Ventana 3725. Both heat pumps/AC worked ok. Had a seal on front AC that was not installed properly at build, replaced during first year warranty at factory.
2019 VTDP 4369. Owned for 5 months any all three ACs working ok.

Actually yes. These units come with a 2 year warranty. Dometic is offering an additional 3 year service contract (parts and labor) for $166.00/unit. Trying to make $$$ sense of this offer for all of us new owners.

Well my 2013 had a total of 5 failures, so I think it is relevant for your post. My 2019 is doing fine so far, but I have a 7 year ext. warranty for the future failure.

2015 DS. Front unit failed within two months of purchase. Replacement failed in two weeks. Replaced again with no problem since.

2015 3 units, Rear replaced after 18 months, bad compressor, new unit bad out of box, replaced freeze sensor, so far so good. Other two units good.....so far....fingers crossed.

2017 front replaced twice, once by dealer before purchase and once 8 months after purchase.

2017 no problems, 2+ years full time, 2 - 15k, do not use as heat pumps
