I have a new Bay Star 2901 with a Winegard Travl'r Auto DirectV dish and HD wiring. I ofter camp in the woods and find that the roof dish cannot be used. I cannot seem to find a way to use a portable dish like I could use in other units I have owned. I have attempted to change settings but do not receive a signal. In the service area, those inputs work only with cable. Settings on the tv are for over-the-air or cable. In the bay area, it appears that you can hook up tv's, dvd's, etc. but the lead from the satellite does not reach the receiver inside.
Am I missing something? In the past, all I had to do is press an A/B switch but this unit does not have one. Any suggestions?

There is a ton of information missing here. You are talking about satellite, not OTA or cable, so that doesn't matter. Are you talking about satellite receiver settings? What about this A<>B button to wjich you refer? How was it hooked up?
I have a Traveler and portable antenna as well that I added an A<>B Swx to just because I had it. I have no problems going between the two, but with the single LNB you will obviously lose the HD channels since they are on a neghboring satellite and the portable looks at only 101

The wiring is extensive - avaliable for amps, dvd, tv's at front, bedroom and bay locations. I have yet to remove the sat receiver to get a closer look at other connections that may be available, but it appears that an A/B switch has been omitted. I am not sure if there is a line from the bay to the control area in the front to connect the remote area to the front. There is, however, a connection in bay area to connect a outside TV. I realize that I would not get HD from the remote, but I still will get most stations on 101.

While in your driveway why don't you set up your coach to receive Sat. from your roof unit. Once that is accomplished set up your portable Sat. and rather thanusing on board wiring hook the portable unit up directly to your receiver by running the coax thru a window. This should provide you with the signal and TV reception. If not the problem most likely is the Portable sat dish. If it works you can then start checking other connections, but I think you need to run a new coax from your sat receiver to exterior of coach and hook portable dish to that new coax.
