Potential Issue: HWH HYD STEP - Loose Linkage Arms
For those IRV2 members whom own a late model LA/EX or KA supplied with the HWH Hydraulic Steps, I discovered that the allen-head shoulder bolts which serve to attach the linkage to the step mechanism on my 2017 Essex are loose and in some cases backing out to which I'm convinced if left unattended to will lead to the steps becoming inoperable and possibly damaging the assy.
I discovered today and have since reported it to Newmar asking that they address it with HWH.
Note: As you will find, some of the shoulder bolts are easily accessible (with steps opened) while others are located further up inside the step well bay and cannot be easily accessed due to the vertical sheet metal wall panel enclosures on both sides of the step mechanism. Those which are located up inside the step well bay are too close to the panel walls to insert an allen wrench into indicating (to me) that the panels will have to be removed in order to inspect and tighten the shoulder bolts (as well as apply some lock tight on the threads).
By posting this, I am only suggesting that those owners might want to inspect and check their own.

Viable concern for all; in my case there are 7-active TSBs and 1-active PIBs which affect my coach. Fortunately, 5 of the 8 have already been addressed and I have an appointment next week to attend to the others which now include PIB #475.
Still being relatively new here, I had actually and previously used the Quick Tips (QTs) and learned how to access and use Com_Net to include having recently reviewed all the TSBs/PIBs for my particular unit. Unfortunately, I failed to read PIB #475 which is of course the resolve to the issue I posted above.
I suspect a "reminder" ever so often directing folks to the QTs and thus, how to check for TSBs, etc. would not be a bad thing particularly considering the rate at which the IRV2/Newmar Owners' Forum is growing in terms of new memberships.
007, Thank you and as well all the other moderators and "senior" members that have been here since or near the beginning to help build this forum to what has become - your mentoring and that of others make the forum a haven for learning and sharing among all those whom embrace Newmar ownership.
I learn something new from someone every time I visit this forum!

On our 18 LA there is a lot clunk when you hit a hard bump that sounds like the step is banging on something. It has to be a large bump to make the clunk but it sure sounds like something in step area is metal to metal. I put a couple rubber stoppers at areas that looked like it might be but still have the hard clunk. Anyone having the same problem or maybe a fix?

On our 17 LADP, I have had two issues that I will pass on to others.
1) After about 6 months, when I hit a hard bump, I would hear the HWH pump power-up and sometimes hear what I thought was the step assembly racking. Turned out to be loose HWH pump mounting bolts. The bump would reground the pump and pump would ramp up.
2) The inside step cover rattles a lot when deployed and to stop it, I just drop it down from the stored position slightly.
