Power Lost To Cigar Lighter
Have 2000 Dutch Star lost power to cigar lighter. Fuse is ok but, no power at the hot lead. Hard to track wire under dash but, is it fused before it gets to fuse panel? Do not smoke but, use for thr GPS.
Thanks for any help.

Check for 12v power at the fuse.
If OK there then you'll need to somehow access behind the socket to see if one of the wires to it has gotten discombobulated.

Your cigarette lighter may be connected to house power rather then chassis power. Try to locate "aux" or "accy" fuses.

I had to replace one of my lighter sockets recently and found that it was rather simple to remove the panel that the sockets are installed in. Once one removes the 6, or so, panel screws, the panel can be lifted away exposing the wiring to the sockets, and have better access to what's behind the panel.

On my '01 DSDP I shorted the lighter and checked the fuse and it showed good. On a later visit to Newmar I asked them to check it out.
They charged me an hour of labor for trouble shooting and found the fuse blown. It was mislabeled, the one marked lighter was not the correct one. Check all fuses on the panel.

I was going to say "No problem, Stop lighting cigars" however I see you use it for your GPS.
The prime suspect is the connection at the lighter socket itself.
use a test lamp, access theback of the socket (usually fairly easy) and probe the wire next to where it connects to the socket (you may need a striahgt pin or open safety pin unless you have a tool like the one I used yesteday with bulb in handle and pointed end)
I'm guessing the light will light (Did for me) simply disconnectign and re-connecting my fix it... And then again, it my not. But that is my first suspect.

I had a similar problem. Both my 12V sockets were not working. Actually they showed 12v but under load they dropped to +/- 5V. That made my GPS very unhappy!!!
The fuse labeled "CIGAR LIGHTER" was OK. Checked further and found the "ACCESSORY" fuse was blown. Replaced the "ACCESSORY" fuse and the 12v sockets work great now. Go figure...
Someday, when I have the time and desire...I will have to trace the wires back from the sockets to the accessory fuse to see how many other items use the "ACCESSORY" fuse.

If you push to hard with your power plug you can pop out the center power connection with the 12V WIRE ON IT.
Had to replace mine so kids game would work while traveling, not saying who broke the mount.
