Power out on generator

2003 Mountain Aire. Full time now and have been hooked to shore power for about a month. Cut off shore power today to run genny awhile to exercise it. Generator fired up went inside to cut on some items to work it and I had no power anywhere on 110 volts. 12 volts was working but nothing 110. Checked switches in breaker box, switches on generator and all was on. Cut it all off and put back on shore power and all was well again. I did this several times with no luck. Checked batteries. Did not see any bad or loose connections. Water levels good. Showed power at batteries was good. Thought it might be converter switch sticking but not sure. Did not see a fuse bad at converter and all looks okay. Bumped converter box couple of times hoping it was stuck switch but no luck. Surge protector on shore power was on and all lights showed power was good. New surge protector. Can you guys give me some help. I am still learning and not a electrician but can deal with some things. Thanks for help.

Try switching the breaker on the generator off then back on. If this does not do it, there is a problem in your transfer switch, meaning the contactor for the generator is not picking up to supply power to the Coach.
There are 2 contactor's in a transfer switch, one for shore power and one for the generator.
If you have a multi meter it will help in tracking down your problem.

Checked all breakers and ok. I made mistake about bumping converter, I meant transfer switch. Pulled off cover and all looks okay. When on shore power it hums and clicks when cutting on power. When cutting on genny nothing, no click or hum. How can I tell if the switch is bad or if genny not sending power to switch>

There should be two sets of wires on the IN side and only one set on the OUT side. If you know how to use a multi-meter, check voltage IN on both legs (Usually RED and BLACK). If you have 110V on both legs from the generator, then check voltage OUT. If you have voltage IN, but not OUT, then it's a bad transfer switch. Always meter Hot to Neutral (WHITE).

Do not give up yet now that your in the TS be careful, you may want to shut everything down to TS and there could possibly some iron filings on the relay poles that are blocking the relay contacts from closing, you need to run a folded dollar bill through the poles and maybe the filings will clear out so relay contacts close.
You can usr the bill to clean contacts also.
When the TS closes contacts you should hear the relay close also but maybe not as loud as shore power.
Even with power off the board of TS still has a charge on it so try not to cross anything while working in there.
Have a good flashlight and look at wire connection for all wires Gen, shore power cord and the load center wiring, Loose wiring will open circuits and heat up melt wiring and possibly start fire.
