We picked up our Ventana in mid-January in Florida. There were some chilly nights so we used the hydronic heat and used it for all our hot water needs when the 110v system quit. At the end of four months, the antifreeze reservoir was down almost halfway to the fill mark. I'm just wondering if that's normal usage for this system.

We bought a 5 gallon container of RhoGard and are considering whether we need to carry any with us when we travel. Found out from Newmar Customer Service that we will dilute it 50-50 before adding.

So much to learn.

Keep your eye on it...mine system doesn't like to be filled, and when it is it will "use" it until it reaches the level it wants to be at.

We have a two week trip to New England coming up. I will keep my eye on it.

jillie:

I don't believe that the coolant level in your "hydronic" heating system, whether it is a Hydro/Aqua Hot brand, OR, an Oasis brand heater, should be at all expected to "use up" coolant. The coolant level in your reservoir tank should pretty much stay constant not-with-standing an occasional (maybe annual) top off.

If your coolant level often needs refilling, ya might be experiencing a leak somewhere in the system.

Will mark the coolant level before we leave and check it after we arrive back home. It only seems to go down when we're using the system. This should be a good check. Unit is still under warranty.

We also developed a leak in the under-counter water filter for the kitchen sink. Going to be darn hard to get back under there around the post to fix it. Ain't as young as I used to be.

Certainly a possibility. This trip may answer some of the questions. I'll be sure to post results when we get back.

I looked under the counter on my 2010 DS 4010..and didn't see a filter. Do all the units have filters..do I need to look again? I do , of course have the big filter in the bay with the sewer drain etc. Thanks.

The under-counter filter on ours is for the separate fresh water tap on the sink. If you have that separate tap, you should have the filter under the kitchen cabinet. We had to be shown where it is because it's tucked behind the leg(?) of the cabinet next to the drawers behind a panel. Right now we have the water to the filter turned off so it doesn't leak all over the under-cabinet space before I can get it tightened, something I'm not looking forward to. Hubby may have to call the EMS to get me off the floor afterwards.

We also have the whole-house filter in the water bay.
