Problem:
Leveling jacks will not go down.
Background:
I was leveling my motorhome on wood blocks. My left rear (driver's side) jack slipped off it's block. I was able to get all jacks to retract. But since then, I have not been able to get any of my 4 jacks to respond (extend).
My control panel seems to be working. When I push the HTD level button twice, I can hear the air being released.....but no jacks will extend during this process.
I checked the fuses on my HWH controller box and all are good.
I have checked the fluid in the resevoir and added fluid (about 4 cups of fluid). This left rear jack does leak fluid.
Is it possible my "leveling sensor" is jamed or something?
Any ideas??
I live in Las Vegas, NV.

Gene,
Was it leaking when you put them down? I know mine leaks and they won't go down either. I can see the oil pouring when the wife tries to lower them. I just figured the the leak is causing a loss of pressure not allowing any of the jacks to go. The fluid is going to go to the easiest place to go. Think of it as air pressure in a tube pressing against a diaphram in a valve. If the tube gets a significant hole it will not be enough pressure to flex the diaphram. I know my line is leaking pretty bad. I could be wrong. There may be a switch that kills the system if not enough pressure. Please reply if you find your answer.

genegunnels, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy this website and forums.
You are going to have to do or have done some basic trouble shooting of the system. Can you use a VOM? If so verify that you have 12 vdc to the pump solenoid. When the system is turned on and the raise coach arrow buttons are pushed does the solenoid close and supply 12 vdc to the motor? Let us know and we can go from there. Also please provide the model of system you have on the coach. With this we can help you with technical information if you can use it.

My jack had been leaking very little for awhile before this problem. So, I'm not thinking that's a problem. I did fill my resevoir anyway.
I have not checked to see if power is getting to the pump solenoid because, quite frankly, I don't know where to start, which wires to test, etc...
I'll study it soon.
But, all jacks don't extend. That makes it a "in common" problem for all 4 jacks. Is there a "one" fuse that shuts down the system? If so, where would I find it?
There are multiple fuses on the control box and I've tested them all, they are all good. The touch control panel seems to be working fine.... So what else is there to look for??

Gene,
Where did you find your controller box on your RV? I can't find mine.

My controller box is located under the dash, at the left side of the steering column near the floorboard/firewall. If I raised my left foot while driving, I would possibly be touching the control box

Gene, there should be a current overload protection of some sort; be it fuse or circuit breaker, for the leveling jack system. These can be located almost anywhere. Is your Mountain Aire gas or diesel? There are solenoids that control the high amperage of the motor that you would want to check for voltage if you are not getting 12 vdc to the motor.

It's a 1997 Newmar Mountainair, 40 ft deisel pusher with one slide out. It's an INCREDIBLE coach as I have not had major problems at all with it in my 5 years of ownership. It's perfect for my lifestyle.
Your statement: "These can be located almost anywhere" is exactly my problem as I see it. Finding the right fuse or breaker is very challenging.

Have you located the Battery Control Center and checked the fuses and circuit breakers there? There may also be some breakers in the right rear compartments.

Battery control center.......hmmmmm.....I'm not sure where that's at. But there are some "house" breakers in the rear of the motorhome in a compartment over the bed. None of them are "jacks" related.

I would suggest you ask these component location questions in the Newmar Owners forum farther down the main page. Those that are familiar with your floor plan and chassis configuration can be of more help. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am still trying to find the same component location in my VECTRA anyone know? I can't find the fuse for my jetco air system or the jack system.

Bill, This picture may or may not any help to you. I offer it because we have the same year Winnebago coaches, but different models. However installation of some components maybe similar. This is a pix of my BCC (battery control center) and it is found under the hood on the right side of the fenderwell. The electronics are covered with a black metal shield that is held in place with a few sheet metal screws. Hope this helps.
