Problem with slide - advice?

The bedroom slide on my 2013 Newmar Bay Star doesn't look right.

When extended there is about a 1/2" gap along the top facia on the inside. The foam on the inner side of the top facia board doesn't quite touch the wall but it fits tight on the lower vertical facia boards.

When retracted the bottom of the slide doesn't quite fit flush with the sides of the coach as it has in the past. It seems to be out about 1/4" or so from fitting completely flush. I've owned the coach for almost two years, and this is the first time I've noticed this.

Is this something I should have looked at immediately?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

The slides are adjustable to get them to fit and close properly.
Check with your mfg. if they have a procedure for you to do the work or where you can take it get it fixed.
It definitely needs to be looked in to.
Something may have broken or dropped off.
I’ve never heard of it happening but I can only imagine how hard it would be to put the slide back into that big hole while on the side of the road.

If you have a slide topper it maybe to tight and is holding the top of slide from moving out when opened or closed.
Here is a slide spec found in QT's 1 & 2 that may interest you.

New Instructions for deploying slides?

Ken

Your problems sound exactly like the one I was having with the Wall Slide on my Essex. I spoke to Newmar Customer Service and they walked me thur the "Reset" of my slide. The link above is a long thread about the Wall Slides.

Newmar Customer Service number is: 866-540-9591. Have your Newmar 6 digit number handy when you call.

That thread is mostly for

FWS's because of damage to them nothing has changed for the smaller slides most people have, level first than deploy slides and if on a unleveled pad do not use AUTO LEVEL ,do slides manually.

As 007 says, if you want to be cautious, and I suggest you should be, after leveling walk around the coach and make sure that the gap between the slide and the coach body is equal. In some cases after leveling on badly graded sites it is possible that the slide could contact the coach body, deploying the slide in that situation could cause damage to trim and seals.

I had my Ventana at Newmar for a similar issue a couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be the slide topper being wound too tight that kept the top from sealing properly.

Should maybe have help.

Since the coach is almost two years old, and I've not seen this slight misalignment in the slide until now, some have suggested the slide topper is out of adjustment. Do they get out of adjustment on their own?

Taking a closer look at the slide in the retracted position is appears that only the lower right corner (as viewed from the outside) is slightly protruding and only by less than 1/4". Just enough upon close inspection to notice.

Perhaps I'll run in out and in a few times and see if the situation changes.

Thanks for all the advice so far, and if anyone has more ideas or suggestions let me know.

If it continues to be an issue I will take it to the dealer for possible adjustment.

Thanks, Ken

Our Ventana is a year old and all 4 slides have the gap you mention at the top. Measured on the outside two slides extend over an inch more on the bottom than the top leaving a gap between the foam and the inside of the wall when extended. Half the foam is unstuck from the slide also, but that's another issue. The slides all align fine when retracted. Newmar has agreed to address the issue under warranty. (We reported the problem when we were two weeks out of warranty.) One slide does not have a topper so I don't know if it's a topper problem. The first available appointment at Newmar is mid-August.
