Progressive Industries makes excellent units.
I have the EMS-HW50C model which is the same except it has the remote display inside the rig. I recommend this model as you can instantly check voltage, amperage, Hz, and any error codes without going outside.
The directions give both before and after the transfer switch instructions, however they don't recommend protecting the generator feed anymore, as they feel the generator is quite reliable.
In spite of the recommendation I have mine installed after the transfer switch to protect the feeds from both the generator and shore power.
PI's EMS equipment works as advertised and has protected my rig from various shore power faults many times. Never had a problem with generator power.
Keep in mind that no EMS is 100% foolproof, but these units are about as close as you can get.

I also have the EMS-HW50C model with remote display.
I wired mine between the transfer switch and the electric panel because it was easiest. I disconnected the #6/3 + ground romex from the electric panel, rewired it to feed the EMS-HW50C, then a new piece of romex to feed back into the electric panel.
I ran a wire and installed the remote display into the cabinet where the other voltage displays are located.
Does a great job of protecting all those expensive electrical components in the coach.

I have the same model as Dirk and had the 30 amp version on my previous coach. That coach I had 8 years and had the PI EMS system with remote installed shortly after I purchased it. Besides being reliable I never had a problem with it in the eight years I had the coach.
I have this coach one year with the EMS-HW50C model. I am very satisfied with PI and agree with all Dirk says. I would definitely recommend it. Several friends have bought that model also and have been satisfied with it.

I installed this unit and documented it on my web site EMS Install. I also documented it on IRV2 EMS Install.
I am working on a mod to use the remote display with this unit.

Another very creative installation lets you be either hard-wired or portable wired.

I utilized the EMS-PT50C, portable unit, would not be caught without one. Portable unit is simply because I do not have enough room in my electrical compartment for a permanent installation. IMO Progressive Industries units are the best on the market.

Thanks people, your advice and comments have really helped. Also the pictures. I will purchase the unit, also add the remote and wire it so the generator will run through it as well. again thanks to all.
