I agree they definitely good have done something better so you don't have to remove the whole door trim.

Perhaps the bumpers might be the contributing element of my air noise in the lower aspect of the entrance door?? I'll have to check. Also, taping the leading edge (or perhaps the whole damn thing) and removing a section at a time as suggested in Neal C's link. Otherwise, I'll have the document in hand the next time I take the coach in for this issue.

4) grind or cut the oversized bumpers to fit
5).reinstall all bumpers
Newmar made available the 13/16 bumpers as a first step before adjusting the striker. I have seen this make an amazing difference. Especially on 2017 and 2018’s

Thanks for that. I'll have to take a look at the bumpers. But if that's not the problem I'll know why they told me to slam the door, because there's no adjustment to be made on the old ones

I got an email from PTL today as I was inquiring about buying the mov a bolt. Haven’t checked my door yet but this is what Brian emailed me:

Code:
Neal,

Before replacing the mov-a-bolt please check to see if the three rubber bumpers on the latch side of the door are 13/16” tall. There were some that were installed a while back that were 1” and was making it difficult to close because the hardness of the bumpers was to stiff. Also check to make sure that the hold open device (door check) on the top of the door is clearing the screen and trim when closing and not interfering (observe this on the inside when closing the door slowly). Sometimes this mechanism gets bent due to wind and it will cause some interference.

If these two items check out, then you may want to replace the mov-a-bolt but when doing so you need to make sure after adjustment there is sufficient contact to the seal as not to cause a leak.

My dealer installed the shorter door rubber bumpers. It made a big difference. I can’t say I can close the door with no effort, but it is much better. I think Newmar is reluctant to warranty the adjustment to the door as the wood trim has to be removed and then matched where the plugs are removed.
I also make it a habit to fully close the door as it helps to compress the seal making it easier to close.

My bumpers are 1 inch. Where do we get the shorter ones?

Neil I owe you big time!! Thanks for getting that info from PTL on the 1" bumpers. Just check mine on my 2017 and sure enough 1". Sanded them down to 13/16" with my angle grinder and now I don't have to slam that friggin door so hard to get it to close and not rattle. I have been fighting that one ever since I bought this coach.

Now I just need to fix the screen door that has been beat on so many times it is falling apart.

Steve

PTL door closing

Most all 19’s have the 13/16 bumpers
18’s have the 1 inch bumpers
My 18 DS has the adjustable pin

Thanks Neal for that info. I checked my bumpers and they are almost an inch. I'll grind them down and see how the door closes.

I went ahead and ordered the adjustable mov a bolt anyway being I have everything apart. This way I can make future adjustments if I have to.

Okay, a lot of misdirected thanks going around here I won't take a thanks when thanks is not due, so.

Thanks to Redbaron and his traveling companion SoundDude, they raised the topic here for others to learn from which is great.

Thanks to Stuart W to stop the potential demolition, he's spot on that the mov a bolt may not be the needed change "first" but it may be the bumpers.

I emailed PTL on how to order the adjustable mov a bolt and got the info back from them which I shared.

It's not only the shorter bumper per PTL but apparently the 1 inch bumper is also harder rubber from what I read. I'm getting 3 bumpers from them and will let all here know what I see as the change.

Thank you for the thanks but others are due the credit
