Have sent 2 e-mails to Newmar asking the safe weight of the Form mattress. No reply. We are looking at the form mattress from Costco with a weight of 87 lbs. Anyone have a answer for me? 2002 Dutch Star, 3 slides. Thanks

Welcome SGMRON to the Newmar forum & irv2.
87 lbs would not cause a problem The people that may sleep on it wouldn't either.
The bed frame should support either one.
As for the slide portion the high torque motor will move slide without a problem also.
A call direct to Newmar Repair may get your answer sooner.
I have added heavy corian counter tops to cabinets on living slide and slide moves like it always did slow but sure.

I dont wait for email, I call them... 1800-731-8300.
However, I am curious as to why you are concerned with the weight of a mattress. You have a 300+ HP diesel... load that sucker down!

Then the real question appears only you can answer. Can you lift a 87# mattress? Is that what you're asking?

While I added a foam mattress as a topper to my existing mattress. I did notice that the supports holding the mattress frame up for storage did not work as effectively. When I access the storage under the bed I do have to hold it up. The support struts provide some support but do not do the job on their own. I'm not sure this information helps you as my Newmar MH is not as upscale as yours and the supports are designed to support a much thinner mattress.

We're using the same mattress that you are describing and the bed works fine when in the open position. The weight is not a problem. I will never go back to a regular mattress.

I was just at Costco this afternoon and was looking at that mattress. If you look at the specifics only the top 3-4 inches are the memory foam, the lower part is a support substance of some sort. We bought only the memory foam mattress topper last year and love it. Put it right on top of the existing RV mattress. Great support and memory foam feeling. We too will always have one. Those things should be standard factory issue!

my c didn't offer under bed storage. i added it by hinging
the cover over the water tank and added a door at the foot of the bed.
the door i made matches the kitchen cupboards and i seldom use the hatch cover
when i do i have a 2x2 4feet long as a stop.not fancy but really only used when i winterize.

Give this a shot. 8" thick like a standard RV mattress delivered to your home for $217.00. Comes rolled up and in a small box. Do not open until it is in the Coach and on the bed. It is so much better than the one we pulled out. Takes about a week to get it.

Tex thanks for the link, can the foam mattress be trimmed for correct bed platform size?
My bed is so hard that it kills my back.
