Just three weeks ago I came within a few hours of purchasing a '05 Kountry Star 3742. For some reason I thought I had better let the deal perculate a little more. Two weeks ago while I was in Phoenix on a business trip I had some free time and found myself in Mesa looking at motorhomes (again). While looking I ran across another 37 ft. Kountry Star but this one was a 2006 model and the ceiling was about 4" to 6" higher. WOW! What a big difference it made. I'm 6'-5" tall and in the Mesa RV I did not have to tilt my head to enter the rear part of the MH.

My question . . . is the taller ceiling height an option or is this just a difference between the '05 and the '06 model year? I'm kind of glad that I didn't buy the low ceiling model now.

No it is not an option. Height with Newmar and many other manufacturer's is determined by the year. The later the higher as a rule.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Bald Eagle welcome to irv2 and the Newmar forum.
As stated the newer models have a higher ceiling and higher slides so you won't bump your head like I do sometimes.
If you need any other questions about Newmar your in the right place.
Good luck in your quest for new MH, enjoy the forums and post often.

bald eagle, WELCOME to iRV2!

As you're 6'5", I am 5'6" and the higher ceiling is certainly more noticeable to me as well!

Thank goodness the TV antenna and the Fantastic Fans operate on switches or I'd need a boost!

Good to hear from you and keep us posted on your search for a rig!

Glad you found our site. Another tall coach is the Travel Supreme.

Bald Eagle, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your advetures and experiences. The difference may be due to the different chassis used for the same coach. Taller ceilings can sometimes mean less tall basement compartments. Good luck in your hunt and enjoy the website and forum.

Your like us -- my DH is 6'5 too. In 2004 & 2005 the only Newmars we could consider were the Northern Star and the Essex.

Ed is 6'4" and we were so taken with layout and condition of our 2002 resale in 2004 we didn't let height stop us. We still love it...king bed would be nice

Thanks for the warm welcome and the responses.

jmo - bed size is another concern. I just wish I was a few inches shorter. (My mother would be rolling over in her grave with that comment. She was always so happy that I was tall.)

Are all of the '06 and '07 Newmars taller? Or is it an option?

They are taller and you can get full size king beds in some of them. Go to newmarcorp.com and take your pick. Good hunting.
