Question about the Ventana shower control

My 16 VT shower lever is EXTREMELY sensitive. We bought new and it has always been that way. Tiny movements of the handle are needed otherwise you will get extreme temperature variations.

This does not bother the wife although I don't think it is normal.

We are in Nappanee right now and the tech has told me they are all like this in the VT. He is getting me a quote for the DS lever as he says that will give greater control.

I don't think they are trying to upsell me on the shop floor; I think they are trying to make me happy.

Thoughts? Any other Ventana owners have this issue?

For what itís worth, our Bay Star is the same way. Small movements only or you'd better stand back.

Same here...

Once you find it...it stays pretty well dialed in.

Same thing in my Canyon Star. But I do like the one lever rather than the two knobs.

Yup, same for us. The other annoying characteristic of the faucet is the relative stiffness of the lever which makes is very difficult to avoid the "too cold - now too hot" syndrome. I did take it apart and lubricated the ball and socket and that helped for a while. It is a very cheap faucet which is not mounted very securely to the plastic shower enclosure either. Looks like they just put 4 screws into the thin plastic surround without any kind of backing.

Has anyone found a Delta or another residential faucet that can replace this unit without major surgery?

Same here. Very much interested in hearing about a replacement.

Question about the Ventana shower control

Same here for our '15 Ventana. Just 1 degree movement between brrrrr and yikes! Knowing this, we've learned to move very carefully when in proximity to the mixer lever. The frequency of "yikes and brrrs" has dropped dramatically! It is what it is.

I do not have a Newmar but I had the same issue. Today I installed a thermostatic shower control valve. It is great, total cost $40.

Newmar is offering a different one for $240 installed. I am going to take it.

The style being offered has a lever that turns all the way to cold to start/stop.

Can you elaborate? Is it just the Dutch Star lever? Is it that black satin color or satin nickel like the Ventana? Learning from this thread and if it should be a special on a Ventana order. Thanks in advance!

Bill

Don't know exactly what color it is I have.

I'll ask tomorrow to see it.
