Took about 5 min working with a small triangle shaped file to smooth out the rough spot on the very first thread. Original nut then spun on by hand easily clear up to the nylon lock.

Guess I just needed a little assurance from the experts here on the Forum that was the right thing to do. Thanks.

For me.....not so much an expert, just too cheap to pay someone to do it. I've buggered up a lot of thigs in my life, where I learned a lesson for the next time.

Well, Don, you are one of the select people that post on this forum that most always has a very logical solution or point of view. All of those mistakes I think have made you an expert. I always appreciate reading your responses.

If it's not expertise, then its a whole lot of uncommon sense.

Can you talk about why you are replacing the shocks and do you notice a difference with the new ones. Also, how long did it take you to replace them. I just picked up a 2015 4369 DS and think the ride could be better....thanks in advance

"Brutusiii".....I found both my Dutch Stars, 2014 and 2019 road rough (front end). Koni makes a shock, just for independent front ends (IFS), called Koni EVO's. I found they take out a lot of the short chop you get in the front end. The stuff that makes your front shades dance.

Just purchased from Spartan at FMCA in Minot the 60 mm front shocks that are on 2020 KA and Essex. Will be putting them on next week and we are still out traveling and will report how they effect front travel on dips and pot holes on the 18 LA. Very pleased right now with front suspension but after a couple other Newmar owners installed them on their 19 MA and LA with positive results will see what we feel.

What I noticed is the bilstein shocks exaggerated bumps, often bouncing 4 or 5 times for a simple road bump.

There is one bump on my road that I hit while leaning in a turn. This caused a bounce sideways and multiple ups and downs.

The koni does not bounce more than 1 time when going over the same test bump. No more jostling between the left and right supports.
