Some vehicles have one 12vdc power port that is continuously powered. Frequently it is in the trunk/rear hatch area.

I am trying to figure out my own series of tests to perform on my car before having a base plate installed. By the way, did you go with a Blue Ox system or Roadmaster? Hope you keep us informed...Thanks LCRV

Blue Ox. No particular reason other than my RV shop recommended them.
Yes, will post findings/Hyundai reply.

Veloster as a toad?? Ignition set to ACC???
I just took my 2016 Veloster Turbo to the top of a long hill on a quiet road to see what happens when it is coasting with the push button ignition off. My wife locked me in the car and took the fob with her. She got into our second vehicle to follow me down the hill.
When I released the brake with the manual transmission in neutral... I began rolling forward. Before picking up too much speed... I turned the wheel left and right... doing a zigzag down the road. The steering definitely does not lock when the ignition is off. This is consistent with a 2012 Elantra that we owned that also had no locking steering column. My test also seems to show that there is no accumulation of miles/kilometers when rolling along with the ignition off. Now I just have to determine if any of the 12V outlets work when the ignition is OFF.
By the way, I have a letter from Hyundai Canada (word for word with a similar letter that I have seen from Hyundai USA) that states that Velosters with a manual transmission are flat towable. They do state, however, that the ignition must be on ACC to unlock steering (if equipped). I have to assume that some cars have locking steering and some don't.

The 30 minute trip home was ok, however the question still has to be answered: if one has a push button starter, does the 60 minute "turn off" in the ACC mode ( as stated in the owners manual )lock the steering wheel. This could be a real problem. I guess I'll have to experiment the next few days before we start our trip. I will also write Hyundai but will not expect a solid answer.

We have towed our Veloster 6 speed multiple times on long trips and the steering wheel doesn't appear to have locked. Our process is that we set up our Patriot brake controller, plug in the 12V, breakaway cable, and put the ignition in accessory mode by pushing the push button start. We have towed it on a 500 mile trip and several shorter trips.

As stated, mine is a 2015. Manual says if you put the start button into the ACC position it reverts back to off after one hour. I have a SMI Duo installed so my system is different than yours. I had a chance to test the wheel locking problem and my steering wheel has no locking feature as LCRV also discovered. Now I have to see that all the stop lights and the brake system function with the ignition button off. This will depend on how the shop installed it. I'm trying to leave here on Wednesday, it's raining every day, and I have all these problems to contend with. Should have started this whole project a few weeks earlier.

Ok, got this.
2015 Hyundai Veloster 6 SPD. with push button start.
SMI Duo brake system
Blue Ox 6500 lbs. tow bar.
With this system all I have to do is put the transmission in neutral and I'm off. Doors locked, push button in off position. There is no steering lock.
Been on the road four hours no problems.
Have fun, John

I don't own, so I can't give you firsthand experience.
My push button start '15 VW Golf TDI SEL has push button and no true 'acc' mode. One push either starts car (clutch depressed) or turns car to run but with engine off if you don't have the clutch depressed. It seems a negative as the 'acc' mode typically uses far less amps. Maybe your car is the same?

I have a 2011 Ford Edge also with push button start, I installed the rvi toad charger and it is easy to install and works great!!!
