We have an 05 Mt. Aire, the step motor continues to run for about 10 to 15 seconds after the steps are fully extended, do we need a new motor or is there an adjustment?
Also when it is very hot inside the coach, (AC is off, on hot day in Fl.) our front slide will automatically start to come in on it's own, and will then go back out, until we take out the fuse. This has happened a number of times , so we take the fuse out when parked. We contacted Newmar and they have never had anyone report anything like this, has anyone out there had this problem?
We are now dealing with the problem of the black tank reading 1/4 full after we have emptied it, we are going to try some of the things this forum has suggested, will let you know if it works.
We are new to this forum, so email us if you have any answers

Hi shirleyg,
Welcome to iRV2. Answers to questions are usually posted in the threads. This allows all who read the thread to gain from the information.

As to your question about the black tank reading 1/4 after being emptied, mine does the same thing from time to time. For me, the easiest remedy is to use the black tank clean out feature in the utility bay. Connect a water hose (not the potable water hose) to this feature and turn on the water. The tank valve should be open. Run the water for 10 minutes or so.

Hi Shirley,
I spent a lot of time on two intermittent slides and learned a few things in the process (mostly thru this site). My problems were mostly with the lock arms sensors. The symptom you are describing would point at either the MPX switch (the rocker in-out switch) or the controller (most likely). If you have 4 slides then you have 4 identical controllers and you could swap the 'defective' with a known good and see if the problem transfers. It's fairly easy to do, there are three connectors and 4 screws on each controller. The only thing to watch for is there are 3 potentiometers on these controllers, you would have to copy/transfer the positions of these pots between the two units.
One of the potentiometers controls the torque on the slide motor, too much torque could cause damage. So if you're not comfortable, see a dealer...
Here is the write up on your controllers.

Before you swap the controllers, you could also try to unplug connectors and re-seat them, could be just a loose connection. Let us know how it goes.

Welcome Shirley to Newmar forum & irv2.
I'm not sure where your slide control is but some have been mounted on chassis rail outside in weather proof housing than most I have seen are in kitchen cabinets or other cabinet locations.
Picture of one in kitchen cabinet:

Moisture on control may cause your problem with slide movement.
Please tell us where it is?
Do you know the make of your stairs so we can find a PFD of operation?
You should find it on parts list in a cabinet for your coach or your black case if you have one.
You also have a coach build number on same sheet that we can find more information on your coach.
As Daniel said be careful of any adjustments on slide control unit. I do not think its a adjustment myself.
Follow Gary's advice using your black holding tank cleaning access and if you have two toilets it will be cleaning both tanks at once so open all black tank dump valves.
Answer the questions and we can help you more.

I have a 04 Mt.Aire and twice in the last year have been on house electric while parked and power from local utilities has went out and my living room slide has gone out on its own. keep lock arms unlocked when at the house parked & stored.
