Queston about slide cabinets?

I was showing a Tiffin friend the differences between my DS and his bus and came upon a question. As you know the upper cabinets on the PS slide have a box of wood that takes up room in the cabinets. He asked what was in the wood area, and I wasn't sure. I have heard electric cables, structural support and insulation. Just curious what is in it. Thanks

Hi - Insulation that most manufacturers do not put in and header for the slide box.

Very worth the space taken if you have ever put your hand into an overheated or freezing cold cabinet. Also if you have ever had a slide bow down in the middle like some owners of SOB's have had.

On ours, the electric slide lock mechanisms are in wood boxes in the upper cabinets.

If your talking about the overhead cabinets above the kitchen counter and the telavator(sp) for the TV on the recent models it is also part of the trim/Fascia that allow them to extend all the way up to the ceiling. The extension of the trim which is a wonderful design feature and does wonders for the overall look. This look visually gives you fake cabinets (my words), the door looks like wow I have a cabinet that extends to the ceiling, but when opened you get about 2/3 of what you think of actual space, the top 1/3 is just trim to extend the slide out fascia up to the ceiling for the look. And it does look good.

We wondered what the heck when we were viewing the 2020 Dutch Stars prior to ordering ours, then I looked where the slide out top was on the exterior of the coach and it became clear, the usable space inside of the cupboard/cabinet goes to the top of the slide out, everything else on the interior is "just for show". Having a 2008 Ventana we have several drawers in the bedroom that look big but when opened not so big, again fascia extension for looks.

I think this is the answer you're looking for, as to why the cabinets are boxed out inside.
