Radio Speakers

I have purchased a new 40" Samsung TV to install over the dash in place of the 32" TV we have there now. The 32"er doesn't cover the left and right radio speakers in their original factory position, but the 40"er will. So, I've got to come up will a set of speakers. What I'm considering is....we have never used the Sony Surround Sound system that's installed, neither of us care for the SS effect, so I thought I'd wire the left front and rear small ceiling speakers in series and the right speakers in series and hook them up to my Sony dash radio to see how they sound. The Sony DVD Home Theater System manual says the speaker impedance is 3 ohms and my Sony Radio manual says the speaker impedance needs to be 4-8 ohms. 3+3 ohms should work....what do you think?

Good timing for your question!

Tomorrow, Camping World is installing a set of high end Jenson's flush mounted speakers under the TV area. These are marine use speakers with big magnets. My 40 inch TV totally covers the tiny Newmar dash radio speakers.

I spent a lot of time thinking this out and even bought a pair of 400 watt in box extension speakers like you might mount on your patio, but after receiving them, I decided they would look bad when installed.

I finally decided to go with the built ins as described due to ease to install and looks. While the stereo separation will not be great, the frequency range of the speaker is exceptional, and should be much better than what was original to my 2007 KSDP.

Newmar radio speakers in my coach's were wired overhead cabinets each side in parallel with the kitchen speakers .
The fade control on radio controlled the bedroom speakers.
I change that and placed the kitchen speakers off the fade control for a more balanced sound off the radio, its a matter of breaking the parallel wired front speakers, I think I instructed on how to do it, haven't been there in a while.
I change in some coach's the over head cabinets to a AR' company speaker never worried about ohm's or impedance.
Down near the bottom of QT's 1 & 2 you will find information of what I did when I installed a DVD surround system, but the pictures may help you when it comes to wiring for your high-fi set up.
Not sure how much room you have in side cabinets or even if you have them, if you just change them out to quality speakers for more balanced sounds, the kitchen you may just leave alone they are behind you.
