Rain. sensor- fantastic fan
Wondered this for a while. Called Nemar and complained about the over sensitive rain sensor. They responded that that's the way it is and I could have it disconnected if I did not like it.
For you other dummies like me that just now read the manual on the the fan controler: if you hold down the up/down button for 3 seconds, it turns your sensor off and a little reD LED LIGHTS UP AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTROLER.
Now I can cook bacon on a rainy day like a true American! Lol

I didn't know that. I would leave the fan in the off position and open it manually with the knob.
Thanks for the input.

You actually read an instruction manual .
Next you'll say; you're giving up beer because there's too many calories.

Must be a different design now as none of mine have had that shutoff feature! Had to use the manual mode and open the cover with the wheel.
Will have to see if it works with the present rig as I didn't read the vent fan manuals. Didn't think I needed to since I've had the Fantastic Fans since 2000 and knew all about them! New rig doesn't even have the manual wheel on them so maybe it'll work with it.

On the 2017 DSDP there are no "up" and "down" buttons, only the "on/off" Newmar controls. Our first day in our new home none of the three fans worked because of morning condensation on the roof (they can be started by manually cranking open the cover). We had the dealer cut the rain sensors and we installed a cover over the kitchen fan. We are now happy with the fans.

Put a hood on top of the fan and you will never have this problem. Plus you can use the fans in bad weather or while driving.

I talked to Newmar Customer Service last week about this issue on our 2016-- same as the 2017. You can buy the Fantastic Fan 7350 upgrade kit to "fix" the issue. https://www.amazon.com/Fan-Tastic-Ve.../dp/B0027XIFA0 for about $150 per fan. I would need three kits. I was told that Newmar is working with Fantastic for a fix.

When we purchased our 2017 Dutch Star 4369, none of the three fans worked because of the overly sensitive rain sensor—two were covered with Fantastic vent covers. With the KIB switches, there is only a on and off option and no way to override the rain sensor. I disabled all three rain sensors. You can see photos at this link:

Even though the vent in our rear bath is closed and turned off at the wall it will still make a couple of grunts after we both finish our showers (her first then me) and I'm toweling off like it was trying to open but decided it needed to close.
Always wondered if it would do any good to call Fantastic Fan for a fix but doesn't sound like they would respond, short of $150/fan. This doesn't really bother anything except I always wonder what might happen if we were gone for the day and it just kept doing this due to rain.

+1
Vent covers are the way to go. No water issues and you can leave vents open in the rain. All ours have vent covers and there is no need for rain sensors.

Great tip, I'll give it a try in the morning. We had the same problem last night with a little dew preventing the cover from opening. I like the idea of the rain sensors and if there's an override, perfect.
