The "Read Volts" display has a rocker switch with two positions--up and down. Both positions always show the same value, usually around 13.4 when plugged into shore power. I'm wondering what the two positions show--is it the voltage on each of my two 12-volt house batteries, or the voltage on my house batteries together (in parallel) and my chassis battery? If it's the latter, which is which? Thanks.

Your reading off your converter when on shore power. Disconnect shore power than read you voltage.
It would be easier if you stay in one forum or the other I have been chasing you around and my old legs can't keep up.

Okay, but which voltage is it showing? output of converter to each set (house and chassis) of batteries? actual voltage of batteries (which ones)? There's no label to identify what it's showing.

Well, I try to post in the forum which seems to be most appropriate for each topic--in this case, it's specifically a Newmar-related question, since they installed the "Read Volts) display. In the case of my chassis battery, I thought it was more of a Workhorse issue, although it could also be a Newmar issue. Besides, I like to keep you busy!

Thanks.
THE display will show the output of your converter which is charging your house batteries first and when they reach full charge part of the charge will go to the chassis battery but Bird will aways make sure house will be recharged first if you start using for heavy current drain from say your furnace.
Thats why GaryKD & I have said check your voltage on your chassis battery. If its low use a battery charger to get up to full charge than your BIRD will keep it there.
When you were working on radio I think your chassis battery discharged and needs to be recharged.
Take a reading on chassis battery with shore disconnected and see what it reads.

On my coach the two switch positions are the same... The reason they used a 3-position center off rocker is because they use one for the USE/STORE and it's cheaper to use the same switch for both jobs than to stock two different parts, it also means there is zero chance of screwing up and putting the wrong switch in.

It would be easy to test. Unplug your rig so you are on battery power. Check voltages with switch up and switch down. Then turn on a bunch of coach lights and the bathroom fan and check both again. The one with the draws will read lower and will be the coach batts.

I've never seen different readings so I figure it reads the coach batteries in both positions.

Dirk you are correct go to the head of class.
To answer everyones questions this is the battery cut off and led voltage display we have on most Newmar coach's.
You operate the upper switch to read house batteries on Led display.
The bottom switch is to operate the solenoid to disconnect the house batteries for storage.
It reads the house batteries with top rocker switch in both positions.
Its a BD-1 second one down in control display the only one with Led display.

You can also see a BLUE lead from control that goes to ignition system which has cause problems, if you have trouble starting your coach.
