I have a 1999 Mountain Aire and was checking the lights for a trip this weekend. I turned on the running lights and the 4way (hazard) flashers and the rear clearance lights were VERY slightly getting brighter and dimmer with the 4ways. I also tried the running lights and turn signals and rear clearance lights do the same thing, but even less. I am thinking it is a poor ground for the rear lights. I looked a little this evening for the rear lighting ground but didn't find it. Maybe someone knows where the ground wire is at? It's not a big deal right now, all the lights work so I'm going this weekend and work on it some more later.

I can't help you find the ground, but I agree with your diagnosis of a bad ground. If worst comes to worst I would run a fresh ground and be done with it.

You could have a running light or brake light that has a corroded lamp socket, they have to be cleaned up as your coach ages just from moisture that can enter the housing.

I finaly got a chance to work on it last night, had family in town. All the sockets looked good but could not find where the clearnace light wires went to, they went forward not down like I thought. I checked the ground by droping a wire down the outside to a good ground and it fixed it. I ended up pulling a new wire down the inside of the rear cap and hooked up to ground, all fixed!
