So as I stated in a previous post I am going to add different air valve extensions to my rear tires to make it easier to air up. I have ordered the extension kit and I will use that until I have the opportunity to add rigid extensions to my rear tires. (which may be quite a while) The kit calls for the valve bracket to be pop riveted to the hub. I prefer not to drill holes in my hub no matter how small. I saw a rig in my storage yard that used a worm gear hose clamp to hod the bracket in place (see att picture). Any thoughts on how using that type of set up might effect tire balance? I will have the clamp, bracket and TPMS sensor on that valve end.

I don't see that it would have much effect on wheel/tire balance. If you are really detail oriented, position the worm-drive mechanism opposite the bracket to minimize the rotating weight difference.

Just know that if things come loose, you will have a bracket and extension thrashing about. That could be a bit ugly.

I had an extension kit come apart on my old bus a few years back and it took out the side indicator light wiring and caused a blowout on the inner tire, we limped into a tire shop on a Sunday and camped out there for a couple days. I'd be leary of jerry rigging an extension kit and would advise against it.

When I purchased the new Viair compressor, I can put my hand in between duals to take cap off and guide extension and hold In place to air up. It takes very little time to do that other than lying on concrete drive.

I, too, have had issues with extensions in the past which is why I avoided them this time and purchased super long valve stems for my inner duals. They extend out through the outer wheel and serve the same purpose as an extension but without the risk. You can buy them here:

I suggest you return the flexible extensions as they will leak at some point and when that happens, the damage can be significant. Spend the time and $$'s to get the proper length valve stems installed. You said you plan to do it sometime, so just do it now and you won't have the issue with the flex hoses.

The only time I had a low tire on a DP was due to flexable valve stem extender. Will not use them now!!!!

OK guys, I hear you and give up. I will go with rigid extensions. I found a truck/RV tire shop (Firebird Tire, Phoenix) who seems to have this specialty. Good chat on the phone. $215.00 out the door with balance. Have an appointment for Monday.
