Great idea Mike. Kind of a Bob roast!
Well, I don't know whether I can tell this one, but here goes.
You all remember when Bob had a stacker trailer to haul his toys around. Well, he got his new Hummer H3 and loaded it, with a vehicle, either his bike or hopped up golf cart was already loaded and elevated in the raised position. Well no tellin' how it happened but the on-top load met with the Hummer below putting a crease in the center of the bright yellow roof of the Hummer. Oh, oh! A creased Hummer. Bummer!
Anyway, I don't know if I can say this or not, so let me know Bob. If you want it kept secret let me know and I will not say anything.
Bob, you always had sometthing happening.
Peter

Bobs' sharing his misadventures help take the sting out of some of my own. Self deprecating humor is a sign of character.

When I left the 2007 National iRV2 Rally that was held in Seivierville, TN I headed home on I-40 back toward NC. Bob had left earlier, said he needed to hustle on back home to VA, had lots to do. I had been on the road about 1/2 hour when I came upon a disabled motorhome sitting by the side of the Interstate.
As I blew by at about 65 mph I noticed it was Bob's new Essex that he'd picked up just before the rally and we had all been oohing and aawing over at the rally. Beautiful MH but there it was sitting by the side of the highway.
I braked hard and pulled to the side about a 1/2 mile ahead of his MH and backed the 5th wheel down the emergency strip until I was close enough to walk back. Inside was Bob and his family, Bob on the cell phone chewing someone's ear off at Newmar. Bob told me the over temperature, shut down immediately light came on ( or something like that) so
that's what he did.
We opened the engine covers and we both immediately saw the fan laying in there unattached to the engine and we conceded that MH wasn't going anywhere unless it was attached to a wrecker. After several more cell phone calls the wrecker shows up and away they go.
I suggested they drive their toad to my place about 60 miles farther and stay until the MH was repaired but, understandably so, Bob wanted to stay with the rig. He sent his family on without him and stuck it out. Since it was a Saturday afternoon and everything that could fix such a rig was closed, Bob had the wrecker take him and the rig to a CG then come get him Monday morning and again tow him to a truck repair.
Hopefully, Bob will chime in and fill in the blanks, but this was the start of a long unfortunate series of failure experiences with his Newmar MH's that eventually involved getting it replaced with a London Aire.

Bob had secured the Hummer by the wheels/tires and not the chassis.
This method let the Hummer bounce up and down on it's suspension and hammer that crease in the roof.

I never told Bob this, but the highline service guys at Newmar called him "Brokedown Bob"!
Not really, just kidding.

A year or so ago I called on Bob for some help. Customer service had given approval for some work on my coach, but when the dealer called, the folks I had spoken to were at the rally in Gillette. So no approval. I sent Bob an Email and asked him to speak to the customer service guys there at the rally and relay my problem...which he did. I guess his reputation as "Brokedown Bob" was even known to the non-highline folks as I must have received a call within an hour of his contacting them. I have yet to me Bob, but feel that I know him through his inputs to the forum and his help. I'll be in Florida for my first RV trip to that area early next year and hope meet him.

Doc...
Bob has actually sold his share of iRV2 with a new owner taking over as of tomorrow. He does make mention of it here...and I thought maybe someplace else.
Bob...Your tales of woe will be missed!

This is not just another Brett Farve story is it? Or is Bob really retiring from the forum? Best of luck in whatever adventures lie ahead.

Not at all...
Thank you all for your kind words.
As you may have noticed, the "co-owner" has been taken down from my avatar as the deal is done.
I will dearly miss all the good folks of iRV2, but the time has come to open another chapter of my life.
God bless each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support over the years.
If ever in the Northern Palm Beach County area of Florida, please look me up.... I'm in Juno Beach.
Now as they say in the movies...... this one's a wrap!!!
Sincerely,
Bob Gregory
