Thinking of buying a Newmar Dutch star or vantana. I am a full timer, so I am not tied to a specific city/area. Anyone have a recommendation for a good dealer? I would work with me ore e phone or Internet and possibly order a unit.

Thanks for any suggestions. By the way, I have already Had some experience with North Trail in Fort Myers.

I ordered a Newmar Kountry Star 5th Wheel from Coachlight in Carthage, Missouri in 2004. I have never worked with a better dealer any where. I had shopped a lot across the country and when I walked into Coachlight I knew it was different. They were low pressure and laid back and let me call the shots.

Service in the four years that I kept the Kountry Star was excellent as well. Cade Fagg was the service manager then and may still be. Newmar refused to correct a perceived problem with my coach at the factory but Cade and Coachlight stepped up to the plate and fixed it with out me even asking. If I were buying new again I would definitely give Coachlight the first chance at my business.

I still use their RV park located behind their store a couple times a year as I pass through and always buy something from their store when I do. These are fine folks. I know it sounds like I work for them but I don't and never have.

Since you are full timing I would decide on what options I want and send your requirements to several dealers and work off of the responces. I would not worry to much about a selling dealers service since you will be moving around. If you are ordering a unit consider a facotory pickup, talking to those that have done it were glad they did. It is the best PDI you can get.

We had a great experience with Jon Steinbring, Garfield, MN. He usually has a lot of inventory and sells new Newmars exclusively and other brands that were trade-ins. You can also order a new one through him.

Expensive option though. Last I checked it was an extra $1500 over dealer delivery.

Steve --

You know my thinking on Newmar as we have exchanged iRV2 posts a fair bit. We literally checked every Newmar dealer in the country before settling on the coach we bought at North Trail. After we decided we liked the coach with its equipment and options, we flew into Ft. Myers to inspect it thoroughly and after some back and forth with the salesman we were assigned to, John Wicks, we made a deal we were very happy with. Met all the top people at NT and liked them all.

Our coach had 99.9% of the options we most wanted and one of the reasons we liked this one and North Trail is that they were able to order it with a number of things that were only available on the upper end of the Newmar line -- all electric, special paint, residential reefer, all LED lights inside, etc.

That being said, all the names suggested on the above posts are from dealers we checked with in our search and I strongly believe that each and every one of them mentioned is a terrific dealer. The suggestion to figure out just what you want and send your specs out for bid at a number of dealers makes perfect sense. For us, being able to locate just the coach we wanted in inventory at end of season pricing was the best of all worlds.

Last thing -- for what it's worth, to me taking delivery at the plant is worth every penny they charge. It is NOT a cheap date, but IMO worth all the dough involved. I have done this with new cars a number of times and had memorable experiences with all of them. Had we ordered a coach instead of found what we wanted at NT and made the deal we hoped for, I would not have hesitated to take delivery at Nappanee. It is an experience that no one would forget.

Be sure to keep us up to date on your decision. Many of us have followed your posts and we will enjoy learning what you buy and where you end up making your Newmar purchase.

Happy Motoring!

Deek

I second Lee's. Our experience with his dealership has been incredible. When we ordered our Dutch Star they worked with us and the factory on special requests and their pricing was competitive with others that we checked. Their pre-delivery service was impressive, noticing things that we never would have, and their after-delivery service is the best we have encountered in our travels across the country.
