Relocating the house batteries
2015 Bay Star 3124.
I'm increasing the number of house batteries and at the same time moving them to the bay right behind the door/steps.
Besides the FullRiver AGM batteries I'll also be installing the Magnum MS 2812 inverter/charger that was removed from our previous coach.
I asked Newmar Cust. Service if they had any block diagrams of the dc system to assist me in rewiring. They sent 9 .pdf documents, five of which were blank, two were air conditioning duct diagrams, one was 110v diagram pointing out the ac outlets. The last one was labelled 12v and pointed out all the ceiling lights and slideout motors.
I spent an hour on Newgle last week and found a photo of my BIM but beyond that, nothing helpful.
And now we get to my reason for posting. I know some of you have done similar conversions in the past and I sure could use pointers in routing wires/cables from the engine area back to the pax side bay. Hoping for some info before I start opening up wiring bundles that disappear into unknown places.
Thanks in advance.

Aren't your batteries supposed to be in a well ventilated compartment? I'm not sure putting your batteries and the inverter/charger together in a none ventilated compartment is a good idea.

Back in 2001 I did the same by moving the two house batteries from front of coach to a second small bay forward of the entry door and added two additional batteries. I reinforced the non metal bay floor with a 3/4" piece of plywood adding a rubber mat over the wood. I then cut seven one inch holes in the sides of the bay for ventilation.
So far it's worked great. I also installed the Pro-Fill unit for ease of adding water to the batteries.
Good luck with your project and safe travels...

OP is using AGM batteries. Venting not an issue like with wet batteries.

Wow, that's a long cable run. You're gonna need a lot of thick heavy copper cable! For that long a run, you might need 00 size.

Go into QT's # 3 and the BAY STAR MOD & REPAIR Section there are mod's for added batteries, Solar panels for dry camping and a BS mod to a Mountain Aire with battery info.
The link also has this link on B.I.M and wiring and fusing.
Keep cable runs short as possible, disconnect slide fuses or 12v plug on controller, disconnect neg first than pos and reversed when reconnecting.
May want this link also.
Good luck with your project.

Relocating the house batteries
Thanks 007 for the links. I know I'll find good info in there.
Re. cable runs, I have a supply of 0000 welding cable and not anticipating any longer than 10'.
When I get to the solar panel part of the project, the charge controller will also go into that same bay and I'll be keeping close tabs on temperatures. May have to install some ventilation at that time.
