I've got a 2010 Canyon Star on the 39 ft floorplan. What I think is the temp sensor for the rear A/C is located in an alcove ceiling above the drawers in the BedRoom. It is located next to a window and during the cooling season I set the thermonstate for the temps I want in the back and it runs constantly because the place it is located in the alcove and next to a window is the hottest place in the rear area. I've tried setting the #2 zone 10 degrees hotter than I want and it works somewhat but the bedroom still gets cooler than I want.

I think It is the sensor. It is a small brown thing about the size of a quarter with slits it it.

Has anyone had this problem and what did you do about it?

I have a 2011 Canyon Star and my bedroom unit cuts off then right back on I am going to try and move the sensor and see if that will fix it

Take the slit cover off and the sensor is right there. It might have enough pig tail on it to pull it out a bit and try different locations/orientations. You might even fish it all out and just relocate it to a more neutral temperature location. Newmar does seem to use poor judgment in locating those sensors - even on high line models.

I have one in our 06 Essex for zone 2 that will read as high as 180+ with the AC on, need to take the time to investigate why, but other times it reads correctly.I'm thinking it is a bad sensor or was the unit prior owner had changed and CW error-ed in the swap.

Your EX has an E-Plex system controlling the HVAC (and inverter, EMS, tanks, etc...). Your symptoms indicate a failing sender - that's how they typically fail (wildly erratic readings). Replacement is a no-brainer (dig out the sender and it's thermistor pigtail and unplug the old and plug in a new and then do an E-Plex reprogram - search this forum for details). You might do a reprogram before replacement just to make sure. The sender is probably Newmar p/n 09507 and back in Oct2010 was $90. The problem (also search this forum for E-Plex issues) is that same sender is probably 10x that price today. Surprise!

The OP uses a different system - but has the same temperature locational problems (like your E-Plex zone 2 sender location in the dead air space on top of the window lambrequin).

Most of the time Newmar has installed the sensor on a interior center wall that backs up to bathroom in bedroom.
If thats not possible install on the face of a cabinet facing the bed.
There is some E-PLEX information in the Quick Tips link.
