Removal of bedroom TV in our Dutch Star 4024 2006

We just purchased our Dutch Star in April and looking to do some up-grades. Can anyone give us Ideas on how to remove the TV in the bedroom. We can not figure that out with out removing alot of woodwork. We are looking to up-grade the TV to a larger flat screen unit.

Thank you!

We had an '02 DSDP. I removed the wood bezel around the TV and lifted it out. I have no idea how yours is secured though.

Remove the trim, if it's in the way, and install a swinging door. Mount a LCD on the swinging door. Make sure you install some kind of lock to keep it closed. That way you'll have storage behind the tv.

I fabricated ours similar to the way RJol described above.

The frame surround on mine was simply a "frame." Look closely and you find where the screws are installed. Our were puttied over and stained to match, but they were there. I had four to remove. Once the frame is removed, it becomes logical how to proceed from there.

I built usable space out of the existing cabinet by adding a floor and a shelf in it. My wife had one of her favorite photos she wanted to hang so I fabbed a door and used spray contact adhesive to attach fabric and fluted screws to mount the portrait.

Mock up prior to finishing the door.

Here's my install. Took the frame off and installed a piece of plywood with a piano hinge on one side. Put a safety chain on the door so it could not slam into the rear cabinets, if it opened on the road. Also put a lock on the door. I need to fill the holes around the lock but I now have a LCD mounted on that door and room behind for a DVR.

My take on it

I removed the original TV and all the trim. Made a flat door with good grade 3/4" plywood and used a piano hinge for mounting. Installed a floor in the new cabinet.
Inside the upper cabinet (cover is held on with velcro), I placed a power strip. I ran all my power cords from the TV, BluRay player, walkie talkies and 2 laptop power cords up the right rear corner and protected them all from fraying with 2" wire grommets. When the RV is in storage I turn off the power strip.
In the cabinet below the TV, I added a shelf for our laptops - with the power cords running to that area.
(and yet, I can't seem to get my photos rotated!)
