Remove and Replace Splendide W/D
We've had a Splendide 2000 in our motorhomes since 1999. We have had it transferred into 3 different coaches. It died last winter and I removed it piece by piece. An acquaintance had a 2005 models he never used and I bought it from him. How do I get it into the back of the coach? Do I have to take out the front passenger seat or?

Hi Ikester,
It should fit over the seat. Consider reclining the seat. You'll need a couple of big dudes to lift it in but it will fit. The most difficult part, for me, was to get it into the rear closet space and connected. I took the doors off the closet and connected everything while it was being held in place (1/2 in).

X2 on Gary. We have a 2100XC in our ‘02 DS. A few years ago we had a problem that the techs couldn’t nail down quickly when we drove to their shop. They asked if the could remove it for a few days of ops check. They just picked it up, held it tipped over above the passenger seat and slid it right out the door.
Not very often, but sometimes I wish I were 25 again!!

I had mine out to replace the pump this winter. Unhooking and reconnecting was a real challenge so I removed the plywood shelf (where my old CRT TV used to be) and cut it in half. Once I had everything in place, I put the two pieces back in with a 1 X 2 strip screwed under the cut then used a strip of Gafer Tape along the cut. If I have to go in again, it will be easy peasy.

I guess everything depends on your floor plan.
The combo was too wide for the pocket door opening , between the kitchen and bathroom in my coach , and had to go through the emergency window in the bedroom. Pocket door between the bedroom and bathroom is 2" wider than the kitchen side.
My biggest problem was that once the unit was in the bathroom , there was only room for one person to lift it into the cabinet .
Same problem this year when I had to pull it out to clean the lint from the vent tube.

When I pulled mine out for the pump, I built a platform using a couple of 1 X 12 boards from the washer cavity out to the bed platform. Raised the mattress and used a board under it to hold it up. Used a fabricated 2 X 4 frame under the boards to support it at the right height to the washer cavity. Then slid the Splendide out onto the boards, rolled it on its side to change the pump. Turned out to be a pretty simple job all by myself. I did take some photos but darned if I can find em now.
