Inside the upper cabinets in my MADP, the bottom is covered with carpeting. I need to remove these to get at the wiring underneath. I assume these are stapled in place, either before or after the carpeting is installed, but it isn't obvious what the best method is to remove these.
Has anyone removed these? What is the best way to go about this?

Hi Ken - just to test I pried up a bit of the carpet in the top left cabinet next to the microwave & it appears to be glued down with contact cement. Seems would be an easy in & out.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the lighting under your cabinets to get at wiring.
What is it your trying to do? The cabinet sidewalls maybe stapled on top of floor of cabinet causing a bigger problem.

I'm thinking about putting in powered shades and need to run 12 volts to them. So I need to be able to run the wiring through the cabinet. I might be able to do this through the light fixture holes, but it would be a whole lot easier if I could just get that floor out. And on one side, there aren't light fixtures, so this wouldn't work at all there.
There has to be some relatively easy way to do it since they must need to get at those wires at some point to do repairs. If I knew how they installed them, I am sure I could figure a way to remove them.
I was hoping someone had attempted this -- it seems like something that someone would have need to do at some time.
Ken

I have wired through cabinets and either run behind the top of cabinet on farming and use a wire staple gun or in rear corner of floor of cabinet. If shades have remotes and not switch's may make it easier.
Feeding 12v may pose a problem especially on slides. My cabinets have a space behind and wires could be stapled on ceiling behind them.

I agree these are feasible alternatives. But the "factory" way to do it would be to run it under the inner cabinet bottom and i always try to do things the factory way. Plus, it just bugs me that I don't know how to take these out -- there must be a relatively easy way.
If nobody on this list has done it, I guess I'll have to call Newmar and ask when I'm ready to install the shades. When and if I figure out how, I'll let everyone know.

The factory way would to have all the wiring already installed in ceiling and dropped out of ceiling ready to hook up to shades before cabinets installed as a option.
They may install after market and can help you out taking cabinet apart could lead to more problems than there worth always a tough fer job after market.

Actually, the factory will use a thin putty knife inserted vertically between the carpet and the inside cabinet edge to get under the 1/8in luan board the carpet is glued to. Then, carefully pry up the luan which is just stapled in place. You might also want to tape the finished wood cabinet edge you'll be prying on to prevent nicks. Pry carefully moving the knife frequently along the edge and you'll get the luan w/carpet up in no time.

This is the way I removed the Microwave to get rid of an annoying squeak. Let me know how you make out with the shades. This is also a project I've been contemplating. The pleated shades are a pain.
Thanks, Daryl
