Removing Sony TVs from 2004 Dutch Star
If any reader has replaced their TVs in a 2004 Dutch Star, can you advise how you removed the old Sony in the front. I removed the "rear view mirror" and there were some screws there which loosened the TV but, there appear to be screws into the top of the TV housing from above which I can see but cannot find an access point to remove them. I also removed the two plugs on the bottom front corners of the padded bottom of the housing and removed those two screws. What am I missing ? Thanks.

Look at this thread Jim, I just got done with this TV job, and yours should be close to mine and how I did it, even getting the old one out....... http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/repl...tv-185786.html Maybe missing screws from the side cabinets?

I have an 04 DS and have removed the front TV. If yo u remove the wood trim around the sony you will see how to unscrew the top of the tv. Inside the left and right cabinets are screws that when removed will release the top of the wood trim . The bottom buttens and screws should remove the bottom part of the wood frame. My tv was only held in by the top metal strip that was screwd into both the tv and the ceiling. I have put two tv in the spot. First a 32" Samsung and now I have a 32" Hitachi. The second is about a third the weight of the samsung. I built a wood frame of 2x4's and attached a wall mount bracket. I replaced the wood frame and mounted the tv's outside the cabinet. The Hitachi is very thin. Velcro keeps it in place.

Right on regarding how to remove the tv. Removing the wooden frame is step 1. I installed a 2x4 vertically in the center, and bought a mounting arm so the tv moves out if I need to get behind it. Velcro and bungee cord keep it tight. I took 1/4" plywood and covered it with fake cherry vinyl as a backer for the gaps over the tv. Thinking about redoing it, moving the tv up and adding a sound bar underneath. '04 KStar gasser

Since I was going to toss the old TV anyway, I gave up and took out my Sawsall and cut the screws off. Problem solved.

I have not removed it yet. Still trying to figure a way to remove it without removing the wood trim. I thought about the saw approach to the top screws but don't like that approach either. Thanks to all the folks who offered advice.

The wood trim is not that difficult to remove. Two on the bottom under the buttons and one upper each side in the adjacent cabinet. You should then be able to see the screws to remove the tv. I was surprised that my sony was only held in place by screws on the top of the tv.
