I am contemplating replacing the J Lounge in our 2008 4320 Dutchstar, with one or two euro style recliners, has anyone had any experience doing this?
We don't find the J Lounge+ or the fold out sofa across from it to be very comfortable for watching TV etc.
If so,what style/brand recliners did you use?
Thanks
Bruce H.

Hi Bruce,

We just didn't have the sofas installed in our coach when we ordered it. We ended up purchasing Lafer, euro style chairs from Bradd & Hall out of Elkhart and had them shipped to us. Pricey, but worth it for us as they fit & suit us. We were able to sit in one of these before we actually made the buy. You can get a Lazy-boy if that is your best option.

I had Newmar delete the J lounge when they built my DSDP and I bought a Stressless by Ekornes recliner. Consul model.

Absolutely the most comfortable recliner I ever sat in.

Bruce, I replaced our flexsteel couch with a Villia J lounge and it is very comfortable but kinda pricy. I replaced my Euro lounger with a Lazy boy like I have at home and it is great. The Euro lounger that came with my Dip was OK but it can't compare comfort wise to the Lazy boy and it kept comming apart on the bottom. Villa furniture makes high quality furniture and they also sell Euro loungers and in my opinion well worth taking a look at.

Are you concerned about the loss of storage under the J-lounge? I had mine out yesterday while in the process of re-fastening it to the floor, as the factory only put in 2 lag screws. I suggested to my DW that 2 euro recliners would be nice. Her view was that we would loose interior storage space, and we wouldn't be able to lay down and snuggle while watching TV. I'm not sure which was more important to her!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on this subject. No I am not concerned about losing the storage,I would just like to find 1 or 2 recliners to make the seating more comfortable. Also the space is very limited(57"width),so if I am going to try for 2,then they can only be of an overall width of 28"+ most I have seen are 32".

Bruexx,
Since you mentioned your sofa was not all that comfortable either, you might consider what we did.

We deleted the sofa when we ordered our mh. We had an 84 inch space to place two recliners. We decided to go with the Flexsteel swivel/rocker recliners and have found them to be comfortable. We had extra room between the recliners so we put an Amish made table between the recliners and placed a lamp on it.

We found that the Flexsteel J-lounge to be quit uncomfortable. I was in the process of looking for a replacement love seat when the wife decided that she wanted a sewing/quilting center in place of the J-lounge. So we had a custom sewing center built. For your purposes a replacement love seat would be the way to go.

In this senario you would end up with two recliners and a love seat of your choice.

By the way, donate the sofa and J-lounge to a local charity and take a tax deduction.

Isnt that the Stressless model that runs about $2000. If that's the one, it's the one I want, but my wife wont let me buy it. It was the most comfortable that I have found, until I tried one in a friend's coach. It was a Lane and really as comfortable as the Ekornes, or very, very close to it. The Lane was about 1/2 the cost:

You may find that 2 recliners in that space is just too tight.

My Stressless is 30.5" wide.

We went with a Palliser Myers from http://www.furnitureblue.com microfiber recliner about 4 years ago. It is extremely good quality for about $700 now. I like to angle it so two in the space would be a problem for us. There were some screw holes in the wall from the J lounger that we covered with stained molding. I attached U hooks to the molding and used that to bungee the euro lounger to wall while traveling.

Make sure you don't have a 6" step under the J lounge. We deleted the J lounge on our 08 DSDP 4355 for a swivel recliner and found that the kitchen slide is not flush. It makes the recliner too high.

Thanks Andy, will check that out before doing anything.I am sure it is flat,so hopefully it just means removing + simply putting a recliner in it's place?
