Nice installation. Was there any trick to removing the TV? Do you acce3ss the front frame screw by removing the wooden plugs in the frame?

Thanks

Dave yes the Tv access is to remove the plugs and screws in front of TV. Then you can take the TV out by removing the vent on right side of TV cabinet. Then there are two screws you can take out thru the vent hole, then lift the TV out. I had to cut about one inch out of the frame for the 26" to slide in. I mounted it to the board the old one was mounted on, using the stand that on the TV with some modification.

Happy RVing,

Keith

Thanks for all the advice. I pulled out the old TV. After removing the 4 wood plugs, the job went quickly. No problems. Now all I have to do is fabricate a covering for the inside of the cabinet and mount the TV. I will try to document the process for other MA owners. I am also switching out the front TV for a RCA 32" with built-in DVD. Wally World had them at $438.00. Both projects are on hold because we are traveling now.

I have another question. When I pulled out the old TV I noticed there were two coax leads coming into the cabinet. One was white and the plate was labeled "satellite" and the other black - no label. I assume the black one comes from the front video switching box and the white one comes directly from the satellite dome on the roof, is that correct?

Has anyone tried hooking the TV to the coach sound system in the ceiling? If so, how was it done?

Thanks
dave

The sound system in ceiling would be off your radio or stereo 5.1 system. You could probably do it but would have to feed off back of your bedroom LCD to inputs in master system. Wiring could run under chassis or through cabinets to get there, some have run wires thru their air vent ceiling ducts, it would be fun but not impossible.

Well I jumped in with both feet once my analog TVs were outdated. I replaced the rear TV with a Sharp Aquos 20 inch LCD that I had picked up in Singapore several years ago. The front was replaced with a RCA 32 inch with built-in DVD player (model L32HD35D) (about $440.00 at Wallys).

The rear TV was hung on a single pivot swing arm mount mounted to the right side of the cabinet. I added a 1 X 6 in piece of oak bolted to the right cabinet facing. I had to double the 1 X 6 to attach the mount to the edge of it. The mounting bolts are hidden by the removable facing on the cabinet. I will be holding it down using a web strap and TV mounts attached to the facing. The cutout on the bottom of the facing for the original TV is the perfect size for my DVD player. You can barely make it out in the attached picture.

The front TV is attached to the right side of the cabinet behind the removable facing. I used 1 X 4 oak with a piece between the side supports of the facing laminated to a longer piece that goes from the top to bottom of the cabinet.

The RCA TV fits perfectly as it is 31 3/8 in wide and 22 7/8 inches tall which covers the entire opening and clears the side cabinet doors by about 1/2 inch. The DVD player slot is vertical and on the left side of the TV near the top.

I have attempted to add pictures to this post but this is my first time. If they do show up the first two are the front and back of the front TV the third picture is the rear TV.

All-in-all the most difficult part was determining how to mount the swing arms. The front swing arm is 19 inches long and double jointed so we can swing it out to view from our recliners in the DS slide. The whole process only took a couple of days

I finally finished my project and am attaching pictures. I would like to thank all the forum members who answered my questions and posted pictures of their projects. Without those I probably would not have attempted it.

I lined the front cabinet with luan plywood. The sides and the upper back are covered with a matching vinyl, which thanks to my DW came out great! I attached the panels mostly using SS screws with decorative washers. I had to add a couple of pieces of wood to have something to attach to. I decided to leave the back panel and the bottom natural with polyurethane varnish finish. I finished with a couple of holddowns top and bottom for each TV with web strapping across the TV front.

The mount works great with its double articulating arm. We can swing the TV to the right and direct the screen toward the DS slide where our recliners are. It's nice to be able to see the TV straight on instead of at an angle. Easier on the neck too.

Thanks again for all the help.

Dave (Flossy),

Nice job---

You have the same model coach as I have. When I removed my original front RCA TV I had two RCA cables, white and red, unattached. I plugged these cables into the sound output terminals of my new Sony LCD HD TV. As "007" said these feed into your dashboard radio. Then select "AUX 1" (on the radio), turn up the volume REAL high on the radio and watch your surround sound speakers spring into action !! The volume control for the TV will then control all the speakers. You can then fine tune your radio volume to suit the surround system. You can also turn your bedroom speakers on, if you wish, and all is now controlled from your TV remote.

Let us know if this works for you------

Again a great job---------

Hey Max, that was a great idea! I had to figure out which output jacks to use on my TV but when I did, I got sound throughout the coach.

Thanks again!

Dave
