I replaced the living room carpet in my 2002 Mountain Aire Gas (Model 3778) with laminate flooring. I installed a metal carpet transition strip on the edge of the laminate, but the slideout sometimes won't rise over the edge and just stops.
We have had to go outside and push the slideout until it goes over the laminate. Then everything is fine. Any suggestions?

You may have to install the smaller diameter slide rollers that Newmar uses with their tile floors.

You may want to read this PDF about Newmar slides. The raise in floor height may indicate to control module that it has reached the limit of wall and stopping slide movement. The pot on control unit may have to be adjusted to give motor more current to get over raised floor.
Only turn pot in small increments 20* I believe according to PDF.

Correct, turn the pot on the slide control board 1/8 turn clockwise and that should fix the problem. Weak batteries can also cause the slide to stop too soon.

Thanks for your suggestions. Are you saying the pot is on the controller? If so, where is the controller generally located?

It depends on the model, but it is usually somewhere the kitchen sink / counter top.

When talking about the "controller", I might be mistaken, but on our 4502 EX each of the 4 slides have their (what I thought were the "controller" boxes) attached to the main frame rail in side a rear basmnt. compartment. Two adjacent boxes per side, w. fwd. controller for fwd. slide and aft control box for aft. slide. Same on opposite side of of coach. Our "torque tension" adj. screw (white) is on these boxes......no??

I know on my Winnie, I've learned that I have much more success retracting the slides if I have the engine running. Kind of a variation on the "low battery" comment above.

In your 2002- 3778 it may be in your hutch cabinet across from kitchen cabinets.

Your right. slide adj on outside and the lock adjustment is under the cover of the controller. Sometimes locks don't work and that's the problem

When I put down tile in place of carpeting, I had to extend the ramps that the rollers climb when the slideout is closed. If you pull the slide in about a third of the way and go outside and look up and under the slide, you'll see the factory installed ramps. Until I extended these, the slide would either jamb when the rollers got to the new tile or would really bind and then release with a real thunk. It took me about three or four tries to get the ramps correct. But now, the slide goes out and retracts like new. Hope this helps. The transition piece you put in may be too tall a hurdle for the rollers to get over.

With the carpet and foam pad removed you would think a laminate tile floor would not cause that much of a problem. Both about same thickness.
Only thing different is the compress rug & foam as roller moves over it.

I think it normally does result in the same or less thickness. I got into a bit of trouble by using 1/4" plywood underlayment under the area that had carpet in order to have a "flat" floor nose to tail. Slides work ok now but it took a bit of fine tuning.

Several folks said to turn the pot on the slideout controller 1/4 turn to the right. On my Intellitec controller there is a small pot that indiates 3A to the right and 14A to the left (with a counterclockwise arrow). Wouldn't you want to add more amperage to the motor, which would require you to turn the pot to the left?
