Replacing brake LED strip light on low corner?

On our 2017 Dutch Star 4369, the low-corner right brake LED strip light was installed incorrectly with the lights facing downward. Has anyone had this LED strip light replaced? It appears to be installed with silicone. If so, that will require removing the old silicone before installing the new light strip.

I would put it on your list of things to be done under warranty you mess with it may not get fixed under warranty.
The whole light fixture may need to be removed.

Attached are a couple of photos of the defective brake light. It appears the LED light strip is held in place with silicone caulk. It is not as simple as replacing a light assembly.

I posted this thread to see if anyone has replaced this light or the LED strip lights on the front.

Now that the pictures are posted see what you mean.
I would call Newmar or contact them on their web site show pictures and ask for what sealant is suppose to hold them to body.
Its a 2017 coach do not think there is a TSB posted for this problem yet but there is some already for 2017's, will check.
Checked only slide problems and chassis FL & Spartan as of right now.
Newmar uses different sealants for different things so you need the correct one.

Lk23 - I had the same issue on our 2017 and tried to have it addressed while in for other warranty work at Transwest in Frederick. Our issue was that on the drivers side the lights faced out and on the passenger side they faced the coach so the brightness was very different between the two and distracting to anyone behind us. What they did was replace both sides and they both face in, which I'm not crazy about since it's very subdued. I'd like to know from another 2017 owner who has both installed the same way if they face in or out? Also, ours will have to be serviced again as the initial problem side is coming off already.

I have a mobile repair guy coming tomorrow to replace both brake lights that were provided to him under warranty. I asked the repair person if the lights were marked left or right and they are not. It seems to me that the lights should be directed outward.

Like RV05 asked, can someone who has the brake lights installed correctly give us some feedback.

Thanks,

Rex

You need to call Newmar to register your problem and they can send you to a dealer that knows the problem or a Mobil Tech they have on their lists.
Tell them your dealer did not satisfy you.

I have called Newmar and on three occasions I have asked how the brake lights are installed and got no answers. I now have an appointment with a mobile technician provided by Newmar who received the parts today. They are not marked left or right and he told me on the phone that he is unfamiliar with how they are installed. He is arriving tomorrow.

Please continue to post your outcome or any fixes. We have the same problem on passenger side of rear brake "eyebrow" of our 2017 DSDP 4369. So far I haven't called Newmar or anyone else, I just figured I'd roll it into other warranty items when I took it in.

The right side brake LED light was replaced today by a mobile RV technician. The lights provided by Newmar are not marked left or right which caused some confusion. Here are the part numbers.

Right: 134504
Left: 134505

The installation is easy with a 3M peel and stick adhesive on the back side of the LED strip. I have attached a couple of photos of the left side brake light that I now have as a spare.

Both the front and rear LED lights are very inexpensive. Replaced mine with some from Amazon. Cool white for the front and red for the rear. While I was at it, I looked underneath a zephyr that had blue lights under MH. I also purchased waterproof led lighting for under MH and ran power into rear cargo door.Click image for larger version

Rex - did you have the mobile tech install with leds facing in or out (away from the rear of the coach). I'm not sure we'll ever get a definitive answer on what's correct but from my perspective, out, looked way better and much more visibale than in. Just my 2c.

Yes, the LEDs should face outward. Once you see how the light strip works, it only makes sense to point outward. The light emits out the side of the stip.

They should look like the photo below.
