I believe that the pressure that is exerted when a ladder is used in 8 feet of length would cause no damage to the trim on the slide. I lay the 2x4 flat on a table and then add the "rungs", also flat. The slide trim has the greatest strength at the top of the slide.
I always adhere the engineered wood to OSB, plywood, or composite floors. Never an issue. Urethane adhesive, laquere thinner, and white rags -plus the proper trowel. Butter the back of the boards after you dry fit them- less mess.

Replacing flooring

Thanks for the replies. Dmttransport: your finished project looks great. What is your next project?. Ernie E: the ladder worked great, I was able to remove all the carpet and floor tile from the kitchen slide. Also thanks for the advice on applying the adhesive to the osb board. At this point I am going to wait until I get back to my home base where I can park the mtr home in my shop. There I can remove the front seats and some furniture and have more room to work. We live full time in the mtr home but will have less mess to contend with. I am sure I will have more questions later. Thanks again. Roger
