I have a 2006 Newmar Duthc Star 4320 43' motorhome that has a 26" Sony tv in the living area. I would like to replace it with a 32" or 37" keeping it in the same area. Has anyone done this. If so, would you please let me know what brand and size you used. Thanks for any help you can give me.

On my former 05 KSDP,I had done this TV upgrade. Go to the "Newmar-DP-owners forum on Yahoo, go to (search) message # 14069.
On the left, select Photos, look at HDTV Upgrade,(on the 2nd page).
You will also find more TV upgrades on that forum.
For our new 2011 DSDP we have just upgraded the window trim and headboard. The DW did not like the black on black headboard and the very dark window trim. The DW did the sewing and I did the stapling. We put the new Ultra suede over the old fabric and got the matching Paisley ?? fabric from Newmar. It was work, but turned out very nice,if you don't know, you would think it was done at the factory!
For more info,email me.

Greg Findon,

Go here to see my upgrade.

Many variations of my design exist. I would strongly recommend you mount the new, larger LCD TV OUTSIDE the existing cabinet, if you won't kill yourself coming in or out of the rig-.
I say this because LCD's generate a lot of heat. If you enclose it, it's concievable that you might have to mount a fan behind it for cooling.

Get the best (don't try to save a buck on this project), and the biggest TV you can fit into your rig. I recommend the Sony Bravia line. I've done about 5 of these installs for friends. They all love the updates. The Sony's are superior with their vivid picture and viewing angle, compared to others I have installed. Walmart- on line, is a neat place to look and buy the TV and appropiate mount and have them delivered to your door.

After you do this, you'll need to feed the new TV with a great satellite HD signal. Then it's Winegard "Traveler" satellite antenna time- more bucks-
Alas, isn't it fun to have a beautiful motor home?

Good luck,

I replaced our front tv with a 32" Samsung on the outside of the cabinet. It is not in the way going in and out. I built a wood frame in the cabinet and used a wall mount so I could move it away from the frame to have access to the rear of the tv and to be able to open the door to the left of the tv. Got rid of 90% of the rattles/noise in the front of MH

I replaced the front mounted TV with a 36" Sony. It is mounted on a standard swing arm mount that can be purchased at Best Buy with the TV. By mounting on the outside of the old cabinet I was able to install a larger screen TV and I have storage behind it for our remotes along with many DVD's.
Not greatest pic's but have a look here.

I'm in the process of replacing the old CRT with a new Samsung 32" LED unit. Need to turn on the heat and finish the fitting, install the foam and vinyl to finish. Have a mount bought to do the bedroom TV too. Yep, another Samsung that I took out of the house. It's actually a combination computer monitor and TV. A little smaller screen size than would actually fit and thicker than a new LED unit but we paid for it years ago.

We like the Samsung units because of the superior color according to various tests and our eyes. Besides, all the TVs in the stick house are Samsung too so the DirectTV tuners are all set to work the Samsungs.
