I want to replace the Sony In-Dash stereo in my 2003 Scottsdale and was wondering what vehicle description to use in selecting my interconnection kit? My rig is the workhorse so I know that it is a GM based chassis. However, is the wiring for the Sony stereo a "stock" GM truck design or is it modified by Newmar?

What I am trying to avoid is a lot of cutting and splicing on my back under the dash, if possible.

Scoosh (spelling?) makes a line of adapters that allow you to "plug-in" say a Pioneer or Kenwood Head-unit to whatever make/model/year that you have. Has anyone been able to find the Magic combo?

I want to install some thing like the unit in my toad. I have a Blue-Tooth, I-Pod, USB, Aux, Pioneer headunit WITH A READABLE DISPLAY! One of my major gripes with the Sony is the display readability, but I want hands free (blue tooth), I-Pod (direct connect with title display), and Aux to handle my XM/Sirius Sat radio.

I have been searching on the forums but so far haven't come up with the right part number(s). I would have to guess that I'm not the only one who wants to replace that Sony Unit

Odds of someone knowing this is pretty slim. I'd remove the Sony and take pictures of the connectors. Send them to Crutchfield along with the info on both the radio and the coach and they will no doubt put you on the right path.

Best thing is to determine what DIN size your current radio is and match up as close as possible with a new one of like size. As mentioned, Crutchfield is a great source of information.

If you have one of these units

under your dash panel opening for fuses under your dash it has inputs for an Ipod, 6 DISK CD Player, head phones and computer play back. Its mounted on shelf next to fuse panel.
If you look in Quick Tips you will see wiring for Sony radio and spk's in ceiling.
The wiring for spk's can be wired to a new radio harness if you do change it out. You would have to pull existing Sony out by pressing sides after removing basil around it.
All sound systems were installed by Newmar.

007, I have the Son plugin box you picture in your reply. I'm curious about the USB input. Has anyone tried plugging in an external harddrive to access music using the indash stereo?

Am I right in assuming I can plug my computer audio outputs into the audio input to play the computer through the indash system also? Currently I have our entire CD collection on the computer.

Not sure Dave if a hard drive would work alone into USB port. I think the right up said your computer would plug into port so you can control music libraries.
I placed music library from computer into Ipod.
The Ipod has controls for shuffle and selection of albums or artists.
When I find write up on unit will post.

Thanks 007. I guess when I get time (ambition), I will go out to the rig and try hooking up my computer and/or a flash drive to see how it works. It would be nice to play our music through the house speaker system. I just had all my valve stems replaced with one piece units after one of my extended ones broke off. Next project is to get my rear axle hub seal replaced since it decided to start leaking while in storage. I think my lube/oil place may have overfilled it when they checked it. Fortunately we are not going anywhere soon, DW is having a knee replaced in a few days.

Thanks, fortunately our "winterization" here in Yuma is making sure the tires and windows are covered and that no critters decide the MH is a nifty place to take up residence. I haven't been notified by Workhorse yet about the brake recall and it doesn't show up on my Workhorse motorhome page as an open campaign. Does this mean my chassis isn't involved or that they just overlooked me as a second owner?

We hope to be on the road again late December or early January if we can find a conveninet rally or two to go to.

Dave
