Residential Fridge run time boon docking.

Hi
I had a question about our 2017 VEDP LE 4002
W have a residential fridge and no solar. I want to stop tomorrow nite at a Bass Pro Shop parking lot for a quick overbite and then continue moving down the road. If I run the generator for a couple hours in the evening, can i turn it off and go inverter, will I have enough battery power to carry the fridge till morning, and then start the generator again.
Thanks for any help

I have a Samsung RR frig and have boon docked for 7 days with no problems. I have 4 (6v) batteries and my frig has been on from the first day it was installed going on 6 years ago. It runs on the inverter going down the road or boon docking. I run 2hrs in the morning and 2hrs in the evening, all good. The only time I run the ice maker is if we are plugged in to shore power.

How much battery power do you have? How much will you consume overnight?
That will answer your question.

If you have 8 batteries, you should be fine. Less than that not sure. Worse come to worst your LBCO will trigger (if it's set properly, 11.9V is the default) it will protect your batteries and shut off the power.

Options/Ideas:

1) Leave the GEN running
2) If you do turn off the GEN and you have AGS, setup the GEN to come on when the batteries get to a lower voltage state
3) Turn off the frig, it should keep cool overnight as long as the doors remain closed. Just like losing power in a house.

If you run the GEN and want it off before going to bed do your best to get the batteries fully charged prior to turning it off.

Residential Fridge run time boon docking.

Don’t own a newmar but If your just stopping for the night and not 6 hours before bed time you shouldn’t have to run the generator. The alternator will have the batteries already topped off and the refer will have been running all day off the engine alternator to boot . You might run the generator in the am to take the load off the alternator first thing , but you could just start and go in the am repeating the previous day .. no generator. I can’t imagine not making the night.... 10-12 hours

Yes you’re going to be fine. I just went 2 months boondocking. I would run mine about every 17 hours. It would be best if you have the AGM unit to set your Magnum controller to start your Generator at 12.0 volts or some where just above that.

I just replaced my batteries with 300 amp hour AGM batteries from lifeline. (1200 amp hours total). Mine is set up with a battery monitor (Magnum BMK w/ shunt) I run down to 65% of battery. Set like that my Generator kicks in about every 26 hours. That’s running and living in it without A/C. (TV, Lights, etc.).

Some info:
1. 12.2 volts is the minimum as that is 50% discharged at 80F.
2. Not sure but if you start Genset, it will run until you turn it off. If AGS starts it, it will run until preset charged voltage is reached.
How many batteries, I missed that. But it should be fine, and as mentioned run 2 hours before bed.

We have a residential fridge in our Ventana, and six wetted cell batteries. We are not all electric. We do just fine running the generator say for 2.5-3 hours (up until 8-9 pm depending on quiet hours), then again in the AM for a like amount of time. We don’t turn off the fridge, nor the inverter. We even get in an hour or so of TV, if wanted. As already mentioned, you should do just fine.

Just remember to have your generator running when extending or retracting your slides and/or stabilizer jacks.

Residential Fridge run time boon docking.

Hope this helps you. I ran a test last week on my ‘19 DS 4369 all-electric, with 8 house batteries. Here were the results...

Battery/Inverter Test with Refer and 3 Vent Fans on:
@ 0945 12.58v (13.02v engine)
@ 1200 12.26v (12.49v engine)
@ 1845 12.25v (12.42v engine)

You can see I ran 9 hours without hardly a drop at all. You will be fine.

We have all electric with a bank of 8 wet cell 6v batteries. Like Steve above we can easily dry camp all night with no problems of dropping below 50%. We usually run the frig (Whirlpool residential), a sound machine, plus charge our I-phones.

We start the gen set first thing in the morning for at least 30 minutes though.

We have a 2014 Ventana with Residential Fridge option, which included upgrade to ( 6 ) House batteries.
Have found no issue boondocking for 10 days -running generator about 2 hours morning, and evening.
Might want to turn off Ice Maker as it uses heat( electric ) to help cubes break out of tray.
Other than that, watch high use appliances - Microwave, Toaster, Hair Dryer, etc.
Best to have Generator on if you need those items.
