Rest In Peace Doug Randolph

Former longtime NKK Regional Director Doug Randolph lost his battle with cancer today after having been diagnosed less than a month ago. Arrangements and more details will follow when available.

Long time Newmar Forum members will remember Doug and Linda Randolph from Tucker, GA who were Regional Directors and had since retired from the RV life and resided at their home in Georgia.

Doug and Linda were very active in the State and Regional Chapters for many years and were an absolute joy to be around. They were truly stewards of Newmar during their time of service.

I will post his obituary here when it comes available.

Noel Douglas "Doug" Randolph, Jr., 79, of Cumming, GA, formerly Tucker, GA, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
Doug was born in Lawrenceville, GA on November 21, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents Noel Douglas Randolph, Sr. and Vera Clack Randolph, and his brother, David Earle Randolph. Grandparents, Charles Alexander and Florence Galloway Randolph, Sanders J. and Adeline Smith Clack.
He was married April 14, 1962 to his wife, Linda Walker Randolph of Chamblee, GA.
Doug was a 1957 graduate of Tucker High School. He went to Young Harris College and transferred to Georgia Tech.
He was an Army veteran with the rank of Spec 4 E-4 ASA (Army Security Agency) for three years in Petaluma, CA . While in basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC he earned the Sharp Shooter award and was asked to help train others to use their rifle.
In 1995, after 30 years of service, Doug retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He worked at Greenville-Spartanburg Airport in Greer, SC, Miami International Airport, Miami, FL and finally at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, GA. He loved being a controller. He was instrumental in helping to coordinate the mid-field terminal at Atlanta in 1980.
Golf was his obsession. He was privileged to have played golf at St. Andrews in Scotland. He also played with the Atlanta Seniors Golf Association and many tournaments at the church. Doug enjoyed playing golf with his three sons. Sports were high on his list of TV enjoyment. He also had a love for guns. He started teaching his granddaughter Elise how to shoot targets from the back patio and took her to the gun range a few times. She did very well. It gave him an excuse to go himself. He was always there for all his children's sporting activities, swimming, baseball, football and softball, and was known for his sideline coaching when he was not coaching.
Doug was very proud of all his grandchildren and shared their interest. Cheering with Olivia, gymnastics with Julia Grace, and golf with Evan. Doug enjoyed seeing Sasha and his daughter Ariana, Caitlin and her love of dogs, Taylor with her sweet smiles and hugs for family, and David with his interest in cars. Watching Charlie play soccer and his honors awards at school. Elise with her passion for cheer tumbling, guns & Schnauzers.
One of the highlights of his life was traveling for eleven years full-time in a motor coach touring the country. We were blessed to see God's beautiful creations, from Alaska, the entire United States, Canada, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Doug was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church where he was very active in the Young Married Department and was a Deacon. He was on the Welcome Committee because he was so friendly.
Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Walker Randolph, son Scott and Debra Garmon Randolph, Eatonton, GA, son Tim, Nolensville, TN, son Philip and Kathy Montville Randolph, Savannah, GA, daughter Paige Randolph, Cumming, GA. Grandchildren, Olivia Randolph, Julia Grace Randolph, Evan Randolph of Eatonton. GA. Sasha and Ana Randolph, Jacksonville, FL, Caitlin Randolph, Valparaiso, IN, Taylor Randolph and David Randolph, Jonesboro, GA. Charlie Randolph, Savannah, GA and Elise Randolph, Cumming, GA. Great Granddaughter, Ariana Randolph, Jacksonville, FL. Sister and Brother-in-law, Jayne Randolph Nash and Weldon Nash, Stone Mountain, GA, Sister-in-law, Martha Walker Turner and Brother-in-law, Larry Turner, Fort Lawn, SC, Brother-in-law, Buddy Walker and Sister-in-law, Carol Swann Walker, Bel Air, MD. Many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Briarlake Baptist Church, 3715 LaVista Road, Decatur, GA. Visitation at 1:00 pm, Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN.org), Wounded Warriors Family Support (wwfs.org) or Briarlake Baptist Church (briarlakechurch.org).
Arrangements handled by Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Tucker, GA (dignitymemorial.com).
We would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at Emory Johns Creek Hospital for their excellent care given to Doug. They were caring, compassionate, supportive and loving in every way to Doug, his family and friends.
