Rock Guard Newmar Logo
I have a 2006 Dutch Star DP with a bent up rock guard and scraped name plate. I managed to straighten everything but would like to smooth and polish out the scratches on the stainless steel "Newmar" Logo. The scratches are only on one end. Is there a way to fix that without getting too expensive?
I am in So Calif if you know of a shop that can do it, but I would rather do it myself and save a few bucks if possible.

The large (replaced with a smaller in '09) full width mud guard gets damaged easily from airing down. The best fix is to take about 2`or so off its height. To do this requires removing the cutout completely. Cut the bottom off the needed 2`+ and then located the cutout on the mud guard and re-drill and reinstall cutout.
We did this to a number of `07 Newmars and it worked great. A slight hanging chain adjustment is needed after the resizing. It works and looks great.

Sandpaper.. fine and finer grit to remove scratches then a buffing wheel.

dont use sandpaper on chrome use a chrome polish to get the scratches out sandpaper will just dull the chrome

The OP stated it was stainless, if so sandpaper and buffing will work just fine. If Chrome you are right.

My stainless is good but I have a hole burnt in the rubber from the exhaust. Where ya get the rubber from?

It depends how much is melded. This is caused generally when aired down with the flap laying backward while the engine is running. If it is only burned near the bottom it may be possible to shorten it and move the cut out up. This can also be somewhat avioded by turning the chrome exhaust tip slightly more to the side. I don't know where you could get a new rubber section but replacing it with a new factory piece is an option albeit costly.

I made new mud flaps and full with flap from heavy duty RUBBER BELTING.
I got all I needed for $20 from a surplus yard.

I burnt a hole in mine while running down the road. Newmar said not to run it over 90 anymore.
