I do almost what Terry posted. The only difference is I drop a chalk line along the roof where the edge of the Eternabond will go. This allows me to use the Eternabond without cutting it into pieces. One piece for the entire length of the roof.

Welcome jurzbill to the Newmar forum and irv2.
This old thread has been around awhile but still applies if you want to use the tape.
As your coach ages its something to help cut down on your maintenace and give you a peaceful mind.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

thank you for the welcome..I have been coming here for awhile now..just posted for the first time.
I have one question about the taping.
With the brite tek roof, Newmar used screwed all the way down both side.
I will have to go up and look again, but dont see how you can tape without taping over the screws.
but the info and care for the roof is very informative.
thanks

As long as the screws are clean and not rusted, change to stainless if they are, tapeing over those seams will be ok they can be where you can get a leak. Your front and rear caps along roof line is another area prone to leak. Some RVers have taped these areas and are happy with it. If you have any roof damage from limbs the tape will have to be removed repaired than retaped.
Don't forget to check your clearence lights front and back make sure the sealent is tight to both roof of cap and light outer casing. I have use a white Marine Sealent found in boat shops that works very good and have also used along roof wrap and sidewall seams. Used along the floor level seam so water does not get into your compartments below. Easy to use and dress before it sets up.

007 thanks for the imput..
I am out of warranty now. I just may silicone each screw individually then tape all along the seam.
I hate leaks
just had to replace inline water filter, it was leaking..
bad part is how often does anyone really check these things until you find water on the floor.
It was a slow leak, thought it was the dogs water dish at first, process of illimination proved it wasnt..
I will regularily check now under the sink.

Don't use silicone, just use a little Dicor 501 around each screw.

I was under the understanding that Brite-Tek roof material had a 12 year warranty, and if so, shouldn't jurzbill be checking with a Newmar dealer first before covering these cracks???????? Just a thought DAVE

I believe you are right about the Brite- Tec However the Joint/Seam would not be covered!!!!

I was thinking of asking how long of a warranty the brite tek roof has. Thanks ...
but like it was stated..seams and joints are not covered..
I am finding that this forum is probably one of the most informative around.
thanks guys.

Welcome rollbob to the Newmar forum and irv2. Thanks for the tip enjoy the forums and do post often.
With my coach 7 years old the roof and seams are in need of fresh sealant. Need to remove old sealant because it now chalks and runs down sidewalls.
The roof has moss growing around some of the vent roof sealants.
While out at Newmar pass Jan. picked up what I need to do the job.

I have read a large number of the forum posts on Eternabond and it seems like a good way to go.

One question I have is it appears most everyone uses the 4 inch wide tape. The vulnerable area at the seams seems to be only about 1 inch wide or less, wouldn't the 2 inch wide tape be sufficient to seal the seams?

It just seems to me that the 2 inch tape would be easier to handle. It would also be easier to blend in with the paint job, i.e., not cover up the dark painted areas (mine is a dark blue).

Thanks

Floosy, the side wall seams you could get away with the 2" tape maybe but on front roof line and rear seam line would use 4" for more wind resistance.
The tape will stick pretty good and will be hard to shift once its rolled on with roller.
