Is it the roof cap or just the molding cover that is sticking up?

It is the roof cap and trim piece sticking out. You can't see the gap from the top. This is a view from the top looking down at it.

Not a big deal, it's where the roof overlaps the sidewall. Just needs reattaching. Mt. Comfort will have you fixed up in no time.

It looks like they screw a molding that covers the seem of the roof and side wall. This molding has groves that except a molding that covers the screws. Can you see the molding that is up against the wall ? You should see screws in the middle. If this is flat your good and the trim strip has popped out. No need to seal. Can't see all this in your pictures , but hope this helps
