What is the best, and easiest, way to get the round AC filters out for cleaning without breaking anything.

I am afraid I would need to see a photo of the air cleaner housing.
The round ones I have dealt with you took off the wing nut and lifted the lid
However I now there are other kinds where you loosten the hose clamp
And I get a serious feeling you have something I have never seen.

Are you referring to the interior AC ducted vent filters in the ceiling? If so, you just pull directly down. It feels like you will break them, but you will not!

I do just as LindyT mentions, grab the louvers and pull down, sometimes I turn them as I'm pulling down. I've cleaned them twice and not broken one yet!

This is the Newmar forum and you would need to be familiar with one to answer this thread. However, not sure how you equated an "A/C filter" with the air cleaner on an engine.
Coalminer - As stated there are plastic snap tabs on the vent which will release when you pull straight down, it does take some force.

Every Newmar owner has it correct hook fingers in vent blade opening and pull down, turn as you pull down and tab shaft will squeeze together and pop loose.
Three Newmars and never broke one by this method, don't use any metal hook just fingers or run the risk of braking a vent fin.
Here is a link to pictures of filters and other info, supplied by Oemy's web site, in cleaning your AC grill on roof.

I agree with the direct pull method. However, since no one else mentioned it, I suggest having a second set of filters so that they may be replaced immediately. Due to the fact that these filters must be dry before returning them to the ceiling, you might find yourself waiting and waiting, and a second set is easy. A sheet of material similar to the actual filters may be purchased at Wal-Mart. Use one of your filters as a template, and a scissor and you're done. Next time you change them out, replace them with the originals.

Yes, I was referring to the interior AC ducted vent filters in the ceiling. Thank you everyone for the answers. I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer and just didn't want to break them.
Thanks again, Bill
