Rule of thumb on price?

Looking at a 2014 Ventana, low mileage 4369 floorplan. looks to be well kept. Is there a general rule of thumb for negotiating price on a used RV?
Thanks for any help.

Do some internet searches and find comparable units that are listed for sale.

Get a price from the NADA of KBB used vehicle site, don't worry about options.

Although it is a 2014 model check tire dates and know that at 6-7 years you will have to change which costs $$$$$.

Use this as a guide to come up with a price you are willing to pay and start negotiating lower then that number.

Lower is better.

When we were hunting for our used motorhome, I used the NADA Low
Retail price with no options included, and went up a bit from there.

Use the NADA prices . Noteably the low price. Remember if you make a low ball offer and they decline you can raise the offer. If you offer too high you can't go down. Good luck with the Ventana.

Use David Lester. He has a FB page called RV Values and Pricing. For $30 he will write up a valuation and let you know the value and price you should expect for your purchase. I've used him twice and have been very happy.

Offer less than asking. All they can say is no. Negotiate from there. If you start too high, you could be leaving money on the table you could have saved. I never pay asking price, but thats just me.

Like others are advising - get market smart and know what you should be and are willing to pay for the particular unit. There are too many low mileage RVs out there to choose from.so there is really no need to settle for the 1st one that strikes your interest...be prepared to walk away if you can't strike the deal you want....so many people get the "fever", grow tired of looking and start convincing themselves "IT's the perfect one"....only to learn later there was a better deal out there. In speaking with the seller (assumes it a private sale or consignment) try to find out if there is a lien on it. That (a lien) often times is a real motivator for the seller to get out from under a note.

Ask for and review maintenance records. Confirm any recalls or TSBs have been addressed.

X3 on David Lester. I have used him three times and right now, we are in a sellers market. Negotiate wisely and don't be afraid to walk away. Remember winter is approaching and the market will be saturated again.
