Rv Resort lot for sale question

Ok is it worth buying these lots in some of the rv resorts that are for sale .if so if you rent them out are you making any money on your investment or is it not worth it .looking to see if any other rv lot owners are making any money on renting there space out when not using it. Thanks John

A friend owns one. I don’t. There are a lot of variables to consider. How much does the lot cost? How much are fees? What rent can you expect? Is it just rental income you want or will you use it?

Yes i understand all that and all the fees that come with it and yes i will be using it as well just wondering if it is worth trying to rent it to help pay the fees

Probably depends where it is and how the POA is set up. We own a lot in Florida and our POA does not take any money from lot rentals. They do have a form you fill out, but you and renter deal direct.

We don’t rent ours. We are there from November until end of April. We have a screened porch, attached building and pay $65.00 per month POA fees that includes city water, well water, trash, lawn service, pool, clubhouse, etc.

Best investment we have made in a long time. Nice thing is when kids came to Disney, we moved coach to Kissimee and when they left we went right back to our “home”. No muss, no fuss.

We bought a lot a year ago. The association manages the rentals when we are not there. It does have a positive cash flow after all expenses, e.g insurance, HOA fees, property tax, utilities, etc, What we like is we now have a place that we know will be available when we want it, of course, we need to block off the dates we want to use it so the association doesn't rent it during those times. We have a tiki, dock and other amenities at the lot.

Yes that's is just what we were thinking buying lots at different places so we know we will always have a spot and test out the rentals side of it to at least help pay all the dues and so forth ..just want to make sure it is a good ideal to do

Interesting idea. Anyone have a couple of good examples of these facilities to check out?

I own a lot in Lake Osprey RV Resort in Elberta, AL. This is our home and we have a 736 sf house on the lot also. We downsized from a bigger home to this where I did not have to worry about the lawn care, irrigation system, etc.

We can rent our lot, but we do not. Several of the owners do rent theirs. From what I understand the owner can either rent their lot themselves or let the Resort rent it for them for a fee. We have a $200 month HOA even though we are not owner controlled yet. This covers wifi, cable, water, sewage, lawn care, irrigation and maintenance of the resort.

A lot of sites have been sold in the last year or so with about 50% of the owners having homes built on them.

I bought a timeshare when I was younger. It cost about 800 dollars a year for fees and taxes. It was fine for quite a few years and we used it. We could trade timeshare weeks, and go to different resorts. Problem was, after about 10 years we got tired of the same trips, and ran out of destinations that were in the program. We bought an rv, and traveled all over. We thought we could rent out our unit for a few years. The yearly fees start to add up if you dont use it. They management say they will rent it out for you, but as long as they have empty units they own, they are not going to fill your unit unless everything is full. We never realized any rental income, and decided to get rid of it after buying the rv. We prefer to travel to different places, and see different things. Buying into one spot ties you it, and if you dont use it, the cost of the fees to own it add up. To each their own, some prefer to go to the same place every time.

We are currently renting a site at Hilton Head Motor Coach (not motor home - Motor Coach $$$$) Resort. Without a doubt the nicest place we have ever stayed in our rig. Will be here for two weeks. May have to start a Go Fund Me page to pay the bill ($90/day). There are approx a dozen lots for sale anywhere from $60k to $100k. Only two would accommodate our 40' rig and the others were not all that well located or aesthetically appealing. I am guessing that the primo sites which come up for sale have a waiting list and would be priced in the $150k range. Monthly POA is about $200. You can rent out your site. It is a gated community with large pool, tennis courts, and clubhouse.

Scroll down and take the video tour. As my son would say, "How sick is this?"

Emerald Pointe RV Resort, Zephyrhills, Florida. Check out the website. The park looks as nice as it did when they took the pictures. There is a lot of pride of ownership.
