RV Trader search results...
Looking at new 2015 Mountain Aires and London Aires.
Wanted to see what floor plans (same for both coaches) were available:
4501 - 1 bath, 4 slides, kitchen forward
4503 - 1½ bath, full wall slide, mid washer/dryer
4553 - 1½ bath, full wall slide, aft washer/dryer
4568 - 1 bath, 4 slides
4599 - 1½ bath, 4 slides, bunk beds
Mountain Aire - 35 total
4501 - 1
4503 - 13
4553 - 19
4568 - 2
4599 - 0
London Aire - 39 total
4501 - 0
4503 - 9
4553 - 25
4568 - 1
4599 - 4
So, mostly 1½ bath (95%) and FWS (89%)… is that because they don’t sell (and were over-ordered)… or are these the coaches that are selling??

I think you will find in these size and class coaches the second bath and additional floor space of the FWS are top selling features.

Hi 99phantoms,
1. The coaches are selling.
2. Dealers are stocked for the shows and spring sales rush.
North Trail sold 50% of the coaches they had, on display, at the Tampa Super show (about 25 coaches). Quite a 5 days!

Are you saying that, according to RVT, there are more LA coaches than MA coaches "out there" ???
I find that unusual, to put it mildly. I'm equally amazed to learn the Newmar has already built more than 2015 40 LA. WOW

I was told the LA was the hottest selling coach for Newmar at the time when I picked mine up.
I agree with the earlier post. The coaches that sell are being ordered and stocked up for spring. Newmar has the full wall slide pretty well dialed in. I think as a result they sell a lot of them

IIRC, (Bob) Tiffin categorically refuses to build a FWS coach... and Entegra now refuses (after a brief attempt) to build a FWS coach...
So, what does Newmar (and American Coach, etc.) know & do that the abstainers do not?
Anyone know the engineering backstory here?

Newmar was the company that developed the first slide system.
Newmar Slide systems
If you need info on the older slide system you can find answer in QT's 1 & 2 slide section.
Slides and Full Wall Slide operation.

This company is being taken over by the next generation. Their Facebook page is blowing up because they are changing some policy at the factory.

Hi 99phantoms,
It all comes down to how the infrastructure of the coach is built. Some manufacturers will build to support a FWS and some will not. It all depends on what market the manufacturer wants to target and are they willing to do what is necessary to meet the market requirements. I'm a mechanical not a structural engineer. However, I have taken the Newmar tour close to 100 times. I have been to areas of the Newmar facility that the public does not have access to. I have seen a FWS chassis (43' DSDP) with the welding complete and before the coach is built. What I can say, from personal viewing, is that Newmar has the slide mechanisms welded to the chassis frame rails. The hydraulic stabilization/leveling jacks are welded to the frame rails. This makes for a very solid and stable foundation for the slide, of any length, to deploy and retract. The hung side wall method of building the coach allows for the coach slide opening to be stable. If the owner follows the procedure provided by the manufacturer, there should be no problem.
In the interest of full disclosure, I do not own a coach with a FWS. The floor plan does not meet my requirements. I prefer the floor plans of a 4 slide coach. This information if provided to ensure those reading this understand I am not writing this from a biased position of trying to be a proponent of FWS coaches. What I have tried to do is describe how Newmar has done an outstanding job of ensuring the FWS is as stable as humanly possible. I am a proponent of purchasing the floor plan that meets one's needs.
