The information I received with my new Baystar specifically indicates that I should not use a brush when washing the coach, as it will scratch the special finish. I believe that it is a service bulletin. I was not advised about this when I purchased the RV. Needless to say, this will present a problem in Spring when trying to wash the top areas of the RV, as I will have to use a longer ladder and risk falling. Do any companies make a brush which will not harm the newer finishes on today's vehicles ? Thanks.

There are some long handled wash poles that have a soft cloth pad instead of a brush. Camping World has them and maybe WalMart---they have a swivle head---very practical and a long reach. should not hurt your finish, you might need to do a hand rub in crevises with a cloth---other wise this tool is great for washing.
The cloth can be removed and washed---beats a brush hands down,

In your Owners Guide they caution in the use of a pressure washer and when cleaning the roof use a soft brush.
A wash pad may work for you but would need to kept it clean so it will not hold dirt particles.
I have used soft bristle with split ends and they have done a good job for me and some can have the extender handles.

Newmar recommends as follows:
1. Do not use a brush on any clear coat or full paint finish. Use a lambswool head on an extension pole. Brushes can scratch the clear coat.
2. Use baby shampoo. Yes, that is what Newmar specifically recommends. 1 oz per 5 gal. I use about 2 oz. Check it out under the Tech Service Bulletins
3. I bought a lambswool head and pole and water blade from Swobbit System. Google them. But, you can usually find their products at Camping World. I did not spend the money for a "complete system".
4. Do not use dishwashing detergent.

Try this site Anchor Express - Marine electronics, GPS, Garmin, GPSMAP, Minn Kota, Raymarine, Lowrance, ICOM, Motorguide, Standard Horizon, Furuno, Si-Tex, Fusion, ACR, Bennett Trim Tabs, JBL, Blue Sea, Polyform, Poly-Planar and do a search for Swobbit products. Two I would recommend are the SW19140 Soft Washing Tool, and the SW45660 5' -9' Perfect Pole.

Exactly right as per Newmar's notes. I use a cotton head on an extension pole. On the BriteTec roof I use an RV brush and Murphies Oil Soap which was recommended back when we bought our DSDP.

I have always used a feathered soft brush with an extension pole to clean mine and it has worked just fine and left no scratches. Then again, I am not whirling around like an automatic car wash either. I let the brush do the work and do not lean into it. My brush does not retain the dirt.
I think there is a greater likelihood of damage by using a cloth or pad type device as it will trap the dirt and now you'll be rubbing it against the finish. Think of it as rubbing compound. The fact that they advertise that you can remove the pads and wash them means they get dirty and only by washing them can you get rid of the dirt.

I used to own two auto detail businesses that in the end catered to high end cars only. I have experimented with absolutely everything over the years. I agree with not using a brush on a pole. I have tried several even ones that are very soft when you feel them but they do scratch.
I will check out some of the other options mentioned as working off of a ladder with a wash mitt is no fun. Never use dish detergent as it is made to remove grease from dishes and will remove any and all wax or synthetic products that you have on your paint.
There are many brands of car wash soap that are specifically designed not to remove wax.

Large microfiber pad on a pole. Wal-Mart for about $20 usually in the RV supply section.
