I know as we get older in life "things" sag-
- I know, my former chest has dropped down into my stomach
.
Seroiusly now, I was noticing my bathroom sink cabinet mirrors were drooping down and I was beginning to see the cabinet door pocket screw holes on the frame were beginning to show.
I took off the two doors and saw the left mirror was almost an inch below the door frame! UGH, double UGH. I saw that the only thing holding the glass on was two sided, 3m tape-
. I called a glass place and was not impressed with their response. So I got the brides hair blower out, a putty knife, several screw drivers, paint stirers, etc. I started heating the mirror and gently , using the putty knife, inserted it into a corner, lifting slightly I placed spacers, as mentioned above, between the frame and the mirror. I cut some of the tape with my razor knife. In about 20 minutes I had the mirror off the frame- UNDAMAGED-
. I then used the hair blower to "roll off" the old tape from the back of the frame and the mirror. "Ditto" on the second frame.
I bought two new 6' rolls of 3m double face tape, placed the tape strips on the back of the mirror and CAREFULLY placed them on to the frames. I left about a 1/32" relief (set back) on the two edges that face each other when the doors are mounted. I planned on putting some plastic mirror holders (4) on to each door to prevent future sagging, but alas, they would extend above and below the frames-
.
So the job is done- for now
This is a crummy design for this section of the MH. All the rest of the mirrors in the coach are of a different (great) design. I will probably make some retainers to prevent future sagging when I get home to my shop.
The cost was about $6 vs a quote of $75/hr at the glass shop.
I forgot to take pictures of the "before" disaster- Sorry.
