ready to upgrade the sat/tv/sterio system in my 2000dsdp.
anyone know of a single unit that will replace both the pioneer receiver and the video control center that Newmar put in the Dutch Star.
I plan on getting a new sat unit for roof(to replace the crank up dish), new tv, new dvd player and get rid of the vhs unit.
not sure what I need to make the crank up local tv signal antenna receive now that all tv signals are digital

I don' think I can help with the Pioneer replacement. My 2000 DSDP had a Sony that I just replaced with another Sony that used the same "bus" system that the original used. So it was just a plug in replacement.

I can tell you that you will not need any special antenna to receive digital, off-air T.V. The existing antenna will work just fine. I replaced my CRT T.V.'s with new digital flat panel T.V.'s and receive the excellent HD T.V. over the air. In fact, it is better than the HD that Comcast sends out.

I'm replacing my old Pioneer system with an integrated DVD player/AV receiver/FM radio, probably a Samsung HT-6600.

In my 2001 MADP, the old Pioneer boxes took up most of a passenger side "stereo" cabinet.

The Samsung unit will fit in a small AV cabinet above the driver's seat.

The Samsung comes with its own 3 ohm 5.1 speaker set. Since the RV speakers are probably 8 ohm, you won't be able to use the existing speakers.

The downside is running speaker wire and mounting the speakers. However, I'm pretty sure the sound will be much better. Also, Samsung's little box has 2 HDMI inputs, so you can connect a SAT receiver and another HDMI device to it.

If you go to Quick Tips and check items #1 & 2.
I installed a Sony DVD AM & FM Surround sound system in my 03 KS.
May not be exact as yours but will give you some ideas on wiring and placement of speakers.
